When I first started growing lettuce in my outdoors garden a couple off years ago, I was so excited to have my first salads. Yuck! Bitter! It was the middle of summer and the days were very warm. A friend suggested harvesting it in the morning. Also to pick younger, fresher leaves. I also saw this come up in a Facebook group. This gentleman lives in Phoenix and his Aerogarden was in a warmer section of his home. He moved it to a cooler area and that helped.

Great info. They also say to add ice cubes to the water just like you can with herbs.
