My harvest elite just arrived in the mail and I set it up and got it started. It begins with mint, genovese basil, thai basil and thyme. I have more pods arriving in the mail, along with a bounty elite that will be dedicated just to basil.   |

bigshot, you made a great choice! You were smart to leave space for the other plants to spread out.

I get throwaway pepper grinders at the supermarket and they have those black plastic caps on them. i started saving the caps, but I didn't know why. Now I do. They fit the holes perfectly.

Oh I see somebody's going to get addicted real quick  And you have just the place to share all of what you're growing. The harvest is a wonderful machine. I can't wait to see these in action. And once you get the bounty, all that basil, yum and it'll smell wonderful. I'm a huge basil grower. |

I wasn't scheduled to get my Bounty until tomorrow, but it arrived on the 4th of July. I'm going to set it up today and shoot a picture of the two of them in action. There's stirrings of baby plants going in the Harvest, and I've received all the pods to fill it with six small herbs. Hopefully I'll get all the basils in the next day or two and I can load up the Bounty. I think I'm only going to do six kinds of basil in that.

My second AeroGarden arrived yesterday. I just set it up. The little one will be dedicated to small herbs: Rosemary, Thyme, Chives, Oregano, Sage... And the big one will have six different types of basil: Genovese, Napolitano, Marseille, Lemon, Thai, Globe, and Purple. This is my bedside table. Hopefully the lights will prevent me from sleeping in!    |

I did run into one irritating thing... one of the pods had the label put on crooked. I put it in the hole, but when I went to put the cover over, it kept falling off. I had to pull the pod out and trim the label with a knife. It fits now. I hope I didn't lose seeds in the water.

AG is pretty good at keeping those seeds in their pods. Plus the labels they use now are stick on and hard to remove without tearing them. I actually like the old ones. I just put one on top and it can be moved any time. I save those and reuse.

Generally speaking, I tend to have more of the opposite situation: Too many seedlings. So, then I have to pick and choose, who stays and who has to leave....  |

The extra basil pods arrived today. I just added four more to the Bounty... Red Robin, Lemon, Globe and Marsailles. Now all I am waiting to arrive are a pair of Aerovoirs.

I read it wrong... it's Rubin not Robin. Red Rubin is Purple Basil I guess. The kit comes with Purple Basil, but the sticker says Red Rubin. Here is my first basil baby. I'm trying not to peek, but I see something in Thai Basil too.  |

OK. I am officially addicted.
I bought a Harvest 360 at the Big Lots sale. So I was able to complete the set of herbs from AG that I am interested in.
Savory, Marjoram, Lavender Tarragon and Holy Basil. I had one more pick so I added another chives. I know I'll use that. Can't wait to see how these grow and try cooking with them. When I figure out my sampler, I'll decide on what I want to specialize in.
I haven't chosen any of the parsley style herbs. I can get cilantro and Italian parsley at the market for 99 cents and it keeps fresh for weeks, so I'm going to focus on the stuff I can't easily get fresh.
