NuMex Pumpkin Spice Jalapeno-(Capsicum annuum)-This is the lighter Orange Jalapeno created by a breeding project that started in 1995 at New Mexico State University at the Chile Pepper Institute. They also created two others in this project named Lemon and Orange Spice. The original crossing was done with the Permagreen Bell pepper and the Early Jalapeno. The Chile Pepper Institute has always been successful of producing peppers with new colors. Now there are many other colored Jalapeno variants in the World but they do not retain that color to the ending ripening stages. These stay the color till the end which makes them unique. From a Culinary perspective they each have more fruitiness than the regular Jalapeno. And each one tastes different. The NuMex Pumpkin Spice has a good Jalapeno heat level. They are very productive and best flavor is when fully ripened to a very light Orange. The NuMex Pumpkin Spice Jalapeno Chile Plants grow about 2 feet tall. I grew the Orange Spice variety of these last year. (See Below) The seeds came from Jim Duffy. I put these on the right of Farm Plus #1. Added 16 ml Nutes.

I have some of these seeds too. Not sure where I got them from, I would have to check, but I'm so looking forward to growing these in the fall. Will love watching your progress too! These could make some pretty poppers!

Three of these have germinated, so far. If it's just the three, I'll grow them all on the one garden. These were smaller plants.

They are available from multiple sources. If you buy them from Amazon, more than likely you will get them from Jim Duffy at Refining Fire Chiles.

I thinned these down to one plant per pod today. I kept all four plants, for now. That will be reduced to two or three in two weeks or so. I also moved the plants to the outside left, right, front and back for spacing. The front will probably be removed. I may combine extras on Bounties.

I can't believe how many AG's you have going at the same time, Mike! Very impressive you can maintain all of them.

They're all along one wall. Once started, they are pretty easy to keep up.

I eliminated one plant today. I did grow four of the orange spice variety last year. And they were very productive, but one of the four plants didn't produce much. These plants were not terribly large. I think they were about 14" in height. I hope these produce like the orange spice did. They are a small jalapeno, with quite a bit of heat. One site said 23,000 SHU. I don't believe that. I would guess 8-10,000 SHU.

The right plant has yellowing leaves. It's due nutrients in a few days. The other two aren't showing any yellowing. I moved it to the center.

I moved the plant on the right to the center due to yellowing leaves. It was this plant that decided my feeding them early, today. I decided to do the same for all the pepper plants. Added 24 ml Nutes, 20 ml Mooch.

Had to move the left plant over one space. The Sweet Jalapenos are getting too big. These aren't making me very happy. I'm getting yel;owing and some wierd marks on a leave or two.
