I received these seeds through the Seed Savers Exchange's ADAPT 2021 program. Started seeds on August 7th, thinned out and transplanted into 5 gallon bucket with airstone on August 16th. Added 40ml of AG nutes and 10ml of CALiMAGic.

how will you change fluid and feed, do you have access?

how will you change fluid and feed, do you have access? Yes - I can remove the bucket lid to access the contents of the bucket. I also have a spare bucket that does not have any holes drilled in it - that way I can create a new nutrient solution and just move the lid over, to eliminate any issues with possible leftover nutrients staying in the water.

Is this a tiny determinant plant or you will just bonsai the plant and roots?

Is this a tiny determinant plant or you will just bonsai the plant and roots? I am not sure - I believe it is indeterminant (and would require significant pruning) but there is no information about this variety online, so I do not know.

The reason I ask it if you don't keep it small you won't be able to lift it out of the bucket.. what is your plan for support and is this inside or out.. My plant in the bucket outside is 7' tall now, and consumes 3-4 gallons of water per day on a hot or windy day and gets flushed and filled weekly. Even if you let it get 3 ft tall, you won't be able to lift it up and support the plant and roots. I had to add an auto water bucket and install it in a foam cooler.. I could not keep up with the water consumption. Good luck keeping the plant small enough to handle if it is indeed Indeterminate, which I would expect due to the age of the variety. You may want to get some uniseals and PVC so you can add a second bucket for access, even if you don't add circulation pump.

It will be indoors in a grow tent - the distance between the top of the bucket and the light is 2ft so I will have to keep it below that. I saw on the Bucket Hydroponics blog that a large outdoor plant will use anywhere from 50 to 80 gallons of nutrient solution - but given that it is indoors and I'll be keeping it trimmed back, I am hoping that it will not use nearly that much. My tap water has a high PPM so I have to bring in RO water from elsewhere, which makes anything water-intensive like this difficult.

The tub plant I had inside got to about 45" and it drank up to a gallon in 24h. When low on food it sucked much more water. If I were you, I would use a hole saw and create a 2 1/2 hole in the lid to add water without fuss. Good luck with it, I am very interested to see how it takes to being a bonsai vine!

Growth! I'll try to keep track of water usage as well.

Those leaves are so unusual for a tomato plant.

Thanks ERR0R1755, for taking the time to post the link. It doesn't work either, but there's something in my security settings that is blocking the photo. I'll figure it out, but that's a project for another day. 🙂

ERR0R1755 , I did figure it out! Safari won't load the images because it can't establish a secure connection to the photo server. A very simple solution is to use a VPN to view the forum. I can see all of your images by using a VPN on my Galaxy phone. Love your photos!
