Why you shouldn't try to grow spinach in a Sprout. The Territorial Seeds Baby Leaf Spinach (middle and rear pods) bolted before it produced enough leaves to be worth harvesting. The spinach was sprouted in the Sprout seed starter (see this earlier post).



The Johnny's spinach in the front pod never really got going. Spinach needs more nutrients than are practical in a Sprout, I think. It started growing after I upped the AG nutrients from the AG recommendation for 3-pod gardens, but still it didn't reach salad proportions.

Oof, sorry about the spinach. Do you think you'll try those in a bigger garden?

A few days ago, I nearly killed my high-producing banana pepper (grown from saved seeds) by forgetting to plug in the pump after a routine R&R. The plant dropped nearly all of its leaves, so I harvested all of the peppers (which needed harvesting anyway) to relieve stress on it.

Those peppers at the top that are partly out of the photo have grown since the disaster happened! Here is a photo of the harvest.

The GZs made it to their forever home.  YAY!!!

The outdoor GZs have adapted nicely to their new space. So far, the EarthBox and Mother Nature are doing all the maintenance work!

It was interesting to follow.  I am so glad the outdoor plants are thriving!

Today I ended two Bounty gardens. One had the Veranda Red plant that has produced prolifically--it had reached the end of its natural lifespan after 264 days. I'm sad to see it go.

The other had the two Banana peppers (grown from my saved seeds) that I nearly killed by leaving the pump unplugged. Both had come back with lots of foliage and some blooms, but I have too many peppers at present (Ancho Grande, Mocha Swirl, and the upcoming Sweet Heats GAL). With Ray out of the house for a week or two, I don't have an eager pepper eater around!

So I ended the banana peppers at 130 days, even though the roots still looked pretty good.

Now I have Tom Thumb peas, the aforementioned pepper plants, two tomato gardens (Veranda Reds and an AG Heirloom Red), the immortal eggplants, and the second Mini Munch cucumber. MM is doing great, and happily growing around and around the Bounty trellis. I got a 5" cuke from it today. I also have Green Zebras from the AG on the back patio.

I'm going to start a Dianthus garden in a Bounty soon, because the dianthus from the November GAL loved the front patio location. It just bloomed and bloomed!

It will be nice having only things that require little attention in the AGs for a bit. I need to get back to the clutter-clearing, because I may need to rearrange some furniture when Ray gets back home.

It will also be nice to have some empty AGs available for when someone here posts about something irresistible that they've planted!  There is already an empty Bounty reserved for the Sweet Heats GAL.
