When buying seeds, the information includes days to maturity "from transplant". Is there any rule of thumb for calculating "days to transplant" when you're growing plants in an AG?
For example, the Fairy Tale eggplants come in at 45 to 51 days from transplanting. How many days should I add to calculate days to maturity in an AG?

I don't have an exact time for you, but the plant starts nurseries sell in the 6 or 9 pack plastic containers are supposed to be transplant size.
But eggplants are big babies. I play it be ear. When they look big enough that I think they have a good chance of making it, I start setting the bowl of the AG outside on the deck in the shade for an hour the first day, increasing time outdoors and sun exposure for 5 days. I leave them outdoors overnight the last night, then plant them pod and all in soil.
It's incredible how quickly they adapt.

Days to maturity means from when you plant the seedling in the ground. That's about 3 weeks after the seed has sprouted. Then you need to consider the germination time. Peppers usually take 1 to 2 weeks for germination. The germination days can vary quite a bit. Seedling growth days I feel is 3 weeks, but could be up to 4 weeks.
So,,,
10 Days germination 21 Seedling Growth Days 51 Days to Maturity --- 82 Days from Seed

mike, that's exactly what I wanted to know. My stuff usually germinates in about a week, so I can add a month or so to the maturity date, to get the approximate ready-to-harvest date. So maybe I'll have Fairy Tale eggplants around the first or second week in December. Seventy-five days from 9/24/21 is 12/8/21.

mike , your advice about calculating maturity dates was bang-on for my Fairy Tale eggplants! It forecast eggplants around the first week in December (around 75 days). At day 71, I have one fully mature eggplant, and lots of babies still developing.
