How many aerogarden pods of lettuce are needed to sustain a steady ration for a family of 2? What about 3? Would a farm 24 do the trick? I have 10 pods and quickly finding out it does not suffice. So curious!

ellydali, I have done it in other types of hydroponics. The best way to stretch a lettuce harvest is to grow a crisp lettuce like romaine and harvest the large outer leaves only. The plant responds by producing continuous large outer leaves.
Even so, it would be difficult to produce that much salad that often in an Aerogarden.
I do not have Farms. I have smaller units only. I hope someone else has a better answer for you.
And BTW, welcome to the forum!

I haven't tried to grow a continuous supply of fresh lettuce for my family of 2. However, I've learned that a Bounty with 9 pods of lettuce will supply more lettuce than I can use, if I harvest the lettuce like Sher describes in the previous post, taking no more than 1/3 of each plant at a time. Each plant will produce for at least a couple of weeks. What I do now is plant a maximum of 3 pods at a time. That easily keeps us supplied with lettuce for sandwiches. The lettuce leaves will keep fairly well for several days in a baggie in the refrigerator when a whole plant needs to come out. I would think that a Farm 24 would give you ample room to plant staggered crops of lettuce. You could start the pods in one grow deck, then start the pods in the second grow deck at a later time. (It's okay to leave 1/2 of a Farm 24 empty. I unplug the pump, the water level indicator, and usually the lights.) In my experience, you can grow lettuce in every pod of a 9-pod Bounty. You might want to space out your lettuce in a 12-pod deck. In any case, you can grow a lot of lettuce in a Farm 24, because lettuce doesn't grow very tall. If you have space for it, you might go for a Farm Plus 24, so that you can grow tall leafy plants like Swiss Chard and Kale. The chard and kale grows well in the tall Bounty models, too.

Welcome...and I think it depends upon how much lettuce you need. If you want meal size salads vs side salads. And what else you might be using to augment the greens too.
I'm still experimenting. This time around, I'm growing about 6 per side on a Farm+ 24 pod unit. I'm hoping that I'll be able to swap back & forth to keep a steady supply...in the future.
Hope you enjoy AGA!
