Hi! Newbie to to the forum. I have started Hierloom lettuce that came with my Bounty Basic. It has been 15 days. The 2 Rouge pods have not sprouted. Should I ditch them and put others in there or just keep waiting? Thanks in advance! Kathy Attachment Deleted

Hello and welcome.
I have but grown that lettuce but it should be up. I would call for replacement pods.

Hi, kath! I agree with Shawn that the Rouge lettuce should be up by now. You might want to take out one pod and split the sponge open vertically to see whether there are signs of germination. If there are, you can put the pod back and the seed will probably grow (unless you sliced it when you split the sponge). If nothing is happening, you can feel completely justified in asking AG for replacement pods. I've received AG salad greens pods that never germinated. AG was very fast in replacing my poblano pepper pods that turned out to contain banana peppers.

Hi Kath & welcome to AGA! I tend to agree with the comments above. If it was going to do something, it should have already done it. That said, it looks like everything else is coming along nicely. You may welcome have a blank spot or two in that AG Bounty. Maybe take a good look at them and move a couple of them around to allow them more room...then you could just move those inactive pods to the other space and see if they decide to make a surprise appearance, down the line. Or just remove them & use the black space covers instead. One last thought, I would just do a pump test and check that the water is trickling on thru to those two that haven't yet sprouted. Just to make sure everything is in order. Couldn't hurt and only takes a few seconds to see if they are working or not. Is this Bounty your first, one & only AG machine?

I've had a 6 pod Aerogarden for about 1 1/2 years and just ordered a new bounty elite. This is the first time growing lettuce though.

I think that lettuce is the absolute best thing to grow in an Aerogarden! When you harvest it from the growing plant, it is absolutely fresh, and tastes fabulous. If you use the AG method of harvesting no more than 1/3 plant at a time, the plants will keep producing for many weeks. Lettuce pods germinate and grow quickly, too.

Hi! My lettuce garden looks exactly like your photo. Itβs been 15days and the two Rouge of Hiver have not popped up. I wrote to Aerogarden and they told me to wait at least 21 days. Then, if still nothing, to contact them for replacements.

When I have grown red and green Salad Bowl lettuces side by side, the green ones seem more robust than the red.
It's been a very long time since I grew Rouge de Hiver, so I can't help you with that. I hope someone else can.

I started lettuce in a Harvest about 2 weeks ago, and the Black Seeded Simpson, Red Sails, and Rouge d'Hiver are all about 3" tall. My nemesis, Marvel of Four Seasons, is still MIA. It may have been done in by gray fuzz, though I did treat it with hydrogen peroxide on a Q-tip.
