scarfguy , This is hard to check as there is no clock on it. However what I will do is plug my unit back in when the lights should be off and see if they go on at the appropriate time in the morning. Currently I plug the unit in and the lights do come on. That does not say it will keep the time they should shut off or turn on. I will let you know in the morning if they turn on when I had set it last.
Did you lights go off at the correct time? Did they come back on at the correct time today?
Yes! I have all of my gardens set to come on a exactly 5 am and off at 8 pm. The power outage yesterday lasted about 10 minutes, I believe. Last night the harvest XLs went off at precisely 8 pm where as all of the other harvest models turned off 10 minutes late as expected. This morning, I got up at 5 am cause I had to reset all of the harvests and the XLs came on at precisely 5 am. SOOOO... they held their setting thru the power outage. The only way that can happen is if the internal clock kept running.
Thanks for your help.

No Problem I will let you know. Also there may be a setting in the module to hold some power for a certain amount of time. I will ask my contact at AG.

It runs in my mind that the latest Sprout holds its time settings through a power outage. I sort of remember being relieved when I got up at 4 am and the Sprout was already turned on. I had it set to turn off at 7pm so that the light wouldn't compete with the TV.

Mine did not work I guess because it was unplugged for so long. I will plug it in again, reset the light. I will unplug and wait 10 mins and see if it goes out on time and comes back up tomorrow.

Yes, my feeling is that it holds the clock for just a short time (like 5 or 10 minutes at most). Probably with a charged capacitor in the circuitry. The reason I say that is I thought it happened and then another time it didn't and I thought it was my imagination... SO... it probably depends on how long the outage is. The intent may be to allow you to unplug the unit long enough to move it to a new location.
Yes, I thought it was happening with the sprout also.

Hello! I'm a newbie, and I really appreciate all of the great advice offered here. I've had one little Harvest Touch for years, and it's been wonderful. I recently took the dive and bought four (!) new gardens.
I bought two Harvest XLs, but I'm struggling with the lights. Since my previous garden was a Harvest Touch, I (wrongly!) assumed that all Harvests came with the ability to set a custom light schedule. Since I live in a small studio apartment, it's a bit frustrating to have to keep the grow lights on for 15 hours a day. I've fashioned a shade AND a curtain, but it's still a lot of light to have on for 15 hours in my small space. (I usually have my Harvest Touch on a 12 hour schedule, which doesn't disrupt my circadian rhythm.)
I'm curious how the Harvest XL compares to the Bounty. I know the Bounty has a brighter light--is the water bowl also significantly larger?

The water capacity is greater in the bounty. Not sure how much but I’d guess at least 50% more.

Welcome to Aerogarden Addicts!
The fixed light schedule of the havest series is a bit frustrating. I've struggled with this a bit myself. I don't really have an answer except to cover the light as you have done.
The bounty is a bit more versatile and robust as to controls. You can customize the light settings. The bounty comes in 3 models. Each have more powerful lights, 30 watts, 40 watts, and 50 watts. The basic model "bounty basic" with 30 watts is only slightly brighter than the 25 watts of the harvest XL. BUT with the advantage of customizing the settings.
I prefer the bounty series. Others prefer the simplicity of the harvest series.

gingercat, the Harvest holds about 1/2 gallon, and the Bounty holds 1.1 gallon. I think that the Harvest XL holds a bit more water than a regular Harvest. IMO, the Bounties are the most versatile, because you can adjust the light and pump settings, and they have 24" of vertical growing space. I can't remember whether you need a touchscreen Bounty to make the light and pump adjustments. The Harvest with a touchscreen allows you to set the "on" time for your garden, though it's fiddly. That way you can have the light on for the most convenient 15-hour stretch.

lynnee, I have a very old Harvest that actually lets me set both the time on and time off (so it doesn't need to be 15 hours). And there's a touchscreen that looks like the Farm touchscreen. It's a great garden that still works pretty well--it's a shame they don't sell it anymore. I guess it spoiled me a little!
