4 more inches and now it's 5 degrees out with a wind chill below zero. Thank God it's Friday.

I just came in from cleaning the vehicles off. I have our landscaper coming when it stops to shovel the driveway, walkways and the deck and stairs off. Mark can NOT do it with still recovering from a knee replacement and I should not with my back as that is still in the early stages of healing... but I do not want them clearing the vehicles as we do not want them scratched.
I MIGHT depending on how much more we get, break the snow blower out and make a few trails for me to walk Piper in. She does not need them but I might. I should not do that either but I will be very careful.
I am sorry I hijacked the thread, I can move all these to a new one if you want unless you do not care.

That's OK. Despite the cold, it only got to 18 degrees, it was a beautiful day. Bright blue sunshiny day. The best part was the roads were good again.
Don't do too much. None of us can afford to be hurt.
Stay safe.

Ditto, Shawn! Take care. And, you too, mike! Our snow has been gone for some days now. It is still cold enough that I put on a jacket. And, I'm wearing socks! Something I avoid much of the year... I think if we ever live in a place that really gets snow, I might get some of those snow melting mats to have in certain places that I don't want the snow to build up?

Yowser! It has been a cold start to our winter. We've had a couple of snow days already. Usually, that doesn't happen until at least January, if at all! Right where we are. Today, we are having a heat wave! It is 42...and I'm good with anything above 39. It has been in the 30's earlier this week and last. Shhh...don't tell anyone, but I've been wearing my long underwear when we have to go out. I just don't like being cold. But, given a choice of cold weather vs hot, I'll take the cold any day! I like too hot even less than I like too cold.

I wore my Michigan hoodie over my shirt all day today. I needed long sleeves. I don't have many of those.

Had some mystery water of my own today. When I cleaned out the old Bounty pepper garden, there was a very shallow puddle of water on the base, around the left-side hole underneath the grow bowl. Here's a photo of the area for reference only, as I reflexively cleaned up the wet spot right away. No way that the bowl was leaking, because the bowls are seamless. Water must have spilled over the side of the bowl, or splashed onto the base at the point where the bowl sits on the base. The latter sometimes happens if my hold on the water jug slips.

I used to have that happen to me. Water trickled down the sides and made its way there.

Mystery Water is solved. It is the Bounty growing Jalapenos. Every day now there is water around it. I stuff paper towels around it because the project is too developed to work out basin issues at this point. When it's done I'll have to figure where the water is escaping from.

Mike, try a long strip (enough to surround the bowl) of paper towel. Then fold it one or twice. Using tape to secure it, wrap it around the center of the bowl. If it is coming from the top, the towel will collect it. Then you will know if it is from there.

Glad you solved this mystery, mike. Mysteries that involve leaks are the worst!

Especially if you keep your garden in a location where it can do damage.

I use these water alarms and recently modified the one I was going to use in the grow tent. I fabricated and interconnected multiple water sensor (2 pennies glued into 3d printed holder wired together) so I could suround my Tub unit as it has been known to leak once the plant gets large and the roots grow out near the sides where the lit contact. Water follows the roots and fined it way down the outside of the tub. I will be alerted before a big mess happens. These are really simple, just a loud alarm with a 9v battery. The sensor snaps into the bottom of the box and the unit can just sit there on the floor or wherever the water will be. You can also remove it and it has a long wire attached so you can hang the box and put the sensor on the floor. For the cost enveryone should have one next to anything that leaks.. Washer, Water heater, sew cleanout, buckets of water with plants and pumps etc. Yep saved me from a massive washer flood and water heater leak over the years. Was just reading the Q/A on Amazon and saw a really good idea which I had not thougt of. To monotior a slightly larger area and/or a place that slops, place the unit on a paper towel so it will wick the water and set the alarm off even if there is only a small amount of water (has to be deep enough to touch both metal disk) Would be helpful on a counter top for sure. www.amazon.com/Glentronics-Inc-BWD-HWA-00895001498-Basement/dp/B000JOK11K/ref=asc_df_B000JOK11K/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=198096709148&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6953742542306151378&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9007309&hvtargid=pla-349312978973&psc=1

This is so good to know about! I'm nervous about the new Aerovoir, because the iRobot vac sometimes bangs it fairly hard. (I need to set a Keep Out Zone, but these aren't 100% reliable.) Here's your link again, simplified, because I sometimes get an expired link message from the one in your post. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000JOK11K/

I like the paper towel tip for increased sensitivity.
