I'm going to pickle a ton this time around. I just bought two boxes of wide-mouthed pint jars. I stole 5 more from my parents house. The Anaheim's and the Yellow Jamaican's are the only ones that won't be pickled. I just bought two gallons of white vinegar. Almost there...

It can be tricky to find around here.

I wonder why? It's on the bottom shelf of every condiment aisle around here. You can also find it in the canning supplies and the cleaning supplies, too. I grabbed these from the canning supplies section.

I grabbed these from the canning supplies section. We have quite a few empty shelves at our local stores. Many have taken to filling shelves with things like storage boxes, in singles instead of stacked together. Others don't bother. The thing I cannot find at all now is Better Cheddar crackers. The website says they have it, but you get to the store and they say they haven't seen those in a long time. Sigh. Maybe your stores plan ahead better, given they are used to weather in the winter?

I use a lot of vinegar for cleaning. I stockpile it, because it is omitted from our delivery orders from time to time as "out of stock". That means, I think, that the grocery shelves were empty when the shopper put the order together. Now that I'm pickling AG peppers, I have to make sure that I keep apple cider vinegar on hand!

After some thought, I think a lot of folks are doing more baking, canning, pickling and just cooking in general, these days. I remember a few months back the shelves were pretty sparse in the baking aisle. So much so, that I actually had to order flour online. Hey, I myself just upgraded to a better bread machine, so I can make more stuff at home, even if my hands don't feel like it that day. (Arthritis.) Many of our stores are back to putting limits on how much one can buy. TP and pasta...and lately, Half-&-Half is often out of stock too.
