I've currently got 4 regular Harvest elite, but have 2 of the harvest slim coming. I was curious if anyone has noticed a preference as far as using the slims over the regular size for particular plants. I have herbs and salads in the regular ones, and was planning on doing peppers and tomatos in the slim ones. But perhaps the shape would be better to use the slims for herbs or salads? What is your experience in these shapes for your plants? Thanks for any input!

I have the Harvest slim and would recommend that you put two total plants in the unit (one tomato and one pepper) Place them at opposite ends of the unit and you should be fine. Keep them trimmed because tomatoes and peppers will grow into the lights.

I am curious also. I have a regular harvest but have thought the slims could be more aesthetically pleasing, esp for flowers.

Thanks for the replies, (esp gsaxon ) I was thinking that I'd do one tomato on each end and the same with the peppers if I go into the slim, as the tomatos will have the same height footprint, and so will the peppers. But then I was wondering if the space would tend to make the tomato vine cascade over the front of the unit and get less light there. And thinking that some herbs are so upright, like cilantro and dill, so maybe better for the slim? Actually the upright romaine varieties, might be good for the slims as well. So many thoughts... (too many thoughts LOL...)

(too many thoughts LOL...) Although I don’t own a Harvest Slim, I think it would be better than a Harvest for tomatoes and peppers because the plants will have extra room to grow in front and back. I would place one plant on each end, and maybe one in the middle, but the roots in middle plants always seem to find the water level indicator and pump in my AGs. The determinate tomatoes that are best for AGs don’t sprawl like vines—instead they branch and grow like bushes. That’s why they should appreciate a Slim model. They can spread outwards in front and back rather than get their branches intertwined with their neighbors in the middle of a Harvest or Harvest 360.

I've found (for me) the Harvest (elite) Slims are my best option for salad/lettuce/spinach greens. I put 4 plants in each with two spacers to separate them. The slim design and the spacers allow me to easily get in and haircut the leaves from the outside. This way the plant recovers and soon has more lettuce to harvest. I can do this 3-4 times. I've tried the salad greens in other AergoGarden models (I have everything from the Sprout to the Farm models) and I still prefer the Slim for this.
For me, I like this: Sprout: 2 lettuce plants or flowers Harvest Elite: Versatile, but I prefer cilantro and herbs in these as well as radishes Harvest 360: Good for salad greens with spacing, harder to trim than the Harvest Slim Harvest Slim: Salad greens, spinach - just love these units for these Bounty: Good for basically everything. I have radishes and tomatoes going in these now. Very versatile. I have 7 of these, I wish I had room for more. Farm 12XL: Honestly, I find the Bounties are a better bargain. However, I feel peppers have more room in these as do dwarf tomatoes. Harvest XL: Meh, I think the Bounty is a better option here if you can get it on a good deal

I have been wondering how I was going to get in to harvest on the salads in the regular harvest so that makes some sense. I may just have to experiment, which I suppose is half the fun.

i have a slim. i don;t have any other harvest model. the slim is fine for lettuce and herbs. i haven't tried any fruiting plants yet to comment on pod arrangement. the only problem is the water hole is blocked if lettuce or anything in the middle of the unit gets big.

I prefer the slims. Better spacing of plants.
