For those that are avid lettuce growers, are you growing the AG pods or Custom? If Custom, what vendor has good Romaine?

For those that are avid lettuce growers, are you growing the AG pods or Custom? If Custom, what vendor has good Romaine? I have grown the Dragoon Little Romaine very successfully several times in the AG in the past. www.johnnyseeds.com/vegetables/lettuce/romaine-lettuce-cos/dragoon-organic-pelleted-lettuce-seed-3884GP.html
These are pelleted and take longer to germinate, but you can crush the pellet and take out the seed and plant it for faster results. You get more seeds if you can locate a vendor who sells non pelleted ones, though.A lot of vendors carry the Dragoon.

They have been shipped. Hopefully the USPS won't delay them. I am eager to grow some lettuce.

I have some Burpee romaine in one of my machines now (Giant Ceasar I think), but I just planted it so I'm not sure how well it will end up doing.

I got my lettuce seeds, along with a bucket of other seeds, off of eBay. He’s a marine veteran. www.ebay.com/usr/mozybeau-farms?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2754This is my romaine after 19 days. It’s on the right, kale is on the left. The kale is also from this eBay seller. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Interesting. What does pelleted mean? Pelleted Seeds are usually used for more Accurate Sowing, Reduced Thinning. ... Pelleting is a process in which small or irregularly shaped seeds are coated with a coating to make them round and uniform. I have found these harder to grow myself but I have used them.

Received my seeds but they were pelleted. I emailed the company and told me to keep these and would send me out the correct ones. So if anyone would like some pelleted seeds PM me.

When I last bought the Dragoon from Johnny’s Seeds they weren’t pelleted, But that was a long time ago. I’m disappointed they have pelleted them. I’m out and due to purchase more.

Can someone tell me what each tastes like and which is better? Or should I grow half and half?
Jericho AND Dragoon
I plan on planting lettuce later today (have everything all set and ready to go) and want to know the above.
Thank you

I can't tell a real distinct difference because I don;t grow and eat those all that much. But if I really were adventurous and daring, i would plant half and half!

I think I am going to do that. Do you plant in all pods or leave one open?

it is my personal preference: I leave the one open right over the fill hole for ease of filling, and also leave that lid open in the heat to cool off the tank.

I plant in all pods because I lift the corner of the whole deck to water. That said, leaving the watering hole open to keep the tank cooler is a great idea.
I just ordered Jericho yesterday to experiment in my little Earthbox Jr outside. See if it can indeed handle the heat. I’ll be very interested in your taste comparison.

For you Lettuce Growers...
I know I have asked about vendors but now I would like to ask the following:
I am looking for other "Romaine" lettuce besides the Jericho and Dragoon to try. I love both of these but am looking for one or two more to grow so I can have a Romaine Mix.
Looking forward to hearing what you have.

I can send you some Little Gem Romaine seeds from Rebel Gardens if you want. I haven’t tried it yet but everything else that I’ve grown from them has done well (Kale, Arugula, etc). And I have plenty of Romaine seeds.
