Knowing that plants will grow sideways when inhibited by pruning from growing up, I wonder if a regular pepper plant would work if pruned to do it. I want to grow jalapeƱos as those are the most used pepper in my household esp in the winter. I may get another unit to try one of the small tomatos and give the jalapeƱos a trial in the other side of it. I mean you can espalier fruit trees, why not pepper plants?

Made the jump to purchasing a bounty this week, as I really want to grow JalapeƱos. Wondering if anyone has a basic height for the jalapeƱo pods that come from AeroG. I have shelves that I can set to different heights, but don't know if I'll need the full 24" of height for them. I now have 8 harvests! One for tomatos, 4 for salads, one for clilantro, one for spinach and the last has bok choy. I figured one more unit for tall stuff, and I'll have about all I need to work with. Not knowing the bounty, do you think I could get away with more than 2 pepper plants? I'd like to do hungarian wax too if I could have 3 or 4 plants. Thanks!

Congrats on the new Bounty! I have grown the AG Jalapenos and Hungarian in my Bountys. However I do not remember how tall they got and what vendor but they did fit the unit. Just check heights before purchase. This was the AG Jalapenos I grew:

Wow! Those look great! I'm pretty excited to try peppers...

sher I'm looking forward to seeing how I like the bounty! So much fun, I've had so many delicious salads already and many many crops of cilantro. Harvesting my first bok choy soon too!

judib , the Bounty opens up so many possibilities. I know that you will love it! Congratulations!
And bok choy is my very favorite green!
I want to grow Fairy Tale eggplant in my Bounty that has bok choy in it. But the bok choy keeps producing, and I can't bear to terminate it yet.
Maybe I will start the eggplant in something else and transplant it into the Bounty later.

judib, congrats on the new Bounty! You will love growing tall stuff. My AG jalapenos grew to 24" in a Farm Plus, and pretty much stopped there. You can keep plants lower if you raise the lights in minimal increments. You can remove the growing tips when the lights teach the maximum height. It's pushing things to grow three peppers in a Bounty, but you can probably manage it. I'd suggest turning the pods regularly to keep the roots somewhat separated--you may want to remove a plant or trim the roots later. (My green peppers hated root trimming, but recovered eventually.) If you plant three peppers, place the middle one as far away from the pump filter as possible. You can expect your pepper roots to clog the water level indicator eventually, but that's easy to fix at an R&R.

Bok Choy is is easy! I have harvested just cutting the whole plant, but seems like you must be doing outer leaves... Never thought of that.

I will probably start with just the 2 JalapeƱos, as I don't have the hungarian seed yet. Also good to know they don't like root trims too much as I really do that a lot for the greens I grow. TY!

judib, Must confess that I trimmed the green bell pepper roots from the bottom rather than the sides. You probably would know better than to do that!

Enjoy and continue the conversation Thank you for moving it. I just got the bounty set up and planted! Whoo hoo! Not crazy about the pink tinge to the lights on that unit, the harvests are more daylight. But I'll get used to it I imagine, and then the peppers will grow up and I won't even notice it.

I've never noticed a pink tinge. I do remember needing to use a car visor to block the light in the early morning hours, as it was too bright for us, especially DH. Now, a year+ later, I have two Bounty AGs, side by side and never feel a need to block the light. Go figure?

I found a $10 cover on Amazon that is Mylar on the inside for harvest size. I figure Iāll cut a portion of it and cover the light hood several inches down in the front.
