FWIW, mike , the AG Bounty trellis seems acceptable to cucumbers. My previous Mini Munch wouldn't touch the Farm magnetic trellis (thin coated wire), but the MM in the Bounty has grabbed firmly onto the wider plastic trellis in at least two places.

I was hoping that to be the case. I bought two extra trellises.

Good heavens, they're growing so fast! Are they using a lot of nutrients?

Did you ever get the feeling your plants are going to be too big for your garden?

Did you ever get the feeling your plants are going to be too big for your garden? mike , I've discovered that you can push the vine with the growing tip down to the lower trellis to make it circle along the trellis. There's a photo of my Mini Munch doing this in the lower photo here. You can even tie the vine loosely to the trellis to make it do this.

mike, That should work. I haven't tied down the Mini Munch in the Bounty as yet, but I did use ties with the Mini Munch that I grew in the Farm XL. The vine in the Farm XL got horribly out of control because I didn't know that you should remove the vines that branch from the main stem. I'm not sure whether it's right to remove ALL branches, like I'm doing now. However, the current Mini Munch will have harvestable cukes in another couple of days--much sooner than the cuke that was allowed to branch freely. Also, removing the branches has resulted in many more cukes developing at the same time.

Lynnee, the only thing that looks like they are branching off from the main stem go to a single huge leave. Can I remove some of them at this point? One of those leaves is already getting brown spots.

mike, the cucumber vines look ratty much of the time. You can freely remove brown leaves or leaves that are drying out, but the vine doesn't seem to mind if you leave them on. When the vine is completely done with a leaf, there will be a "pinched" and slightly discolored portion of the leaf stem between the leaf and the place where the leaf stem attaches to the main vine stem. You will recognize the branches when they appear--they have a vine stem, leaves, blossoms, and a growing tip that looks just like the growing tip on the main vine. They appear below the main growing tip, similar to suckers on a tomato or pepper.

I've decided to run the left plant around the lower trellis. The right plant will go around the upper trellis.

Good idea, mike. I'm really interested in seeing how you handle the vines!

want to show off my cukes!
These were planted 5 weeks ago in a harvest XL. The one on the left is an iznik and the one on the right is an H-19 little leaf. The iznik quickly outgrew the harvest. All I can think of is the movie Little House of Horrors! Luckily, I have overhead lighting consisting of a 45w aerogarden panel and a Viparspectra P1000 (100w). This is a time when it would be nice if the light hood was detachable. At this point its just in the way.
