Day 1 (5/11/22). Strawberry crowns from Park Seed planted in Bounty Elite. Five "Frageria Eversweet" on the left; four "Frageria Seascape" on the right. Some of the Seascapes had fungus (leaf mold?) on the roots. I didn't use any with obvious mold, but I added 3ml hydrogen peroxide to the water. The plants were 1/2 price (end of season), which may account for the mold. Started these with the pump set to 060/000 (always on). 12 ml AG nutes, 5 ml CalMag+. These will get a weekly R&R once they get going. I had to cut 3 spokes of each plastic pod to get the roots in. Only the smallest crowns required a sponge.   |

Day 11. These strawberry crowns are doing well! All of them have big green leaves. One of the Seascapes has two flowers already. Photos when there are more flowers.  |

The Seascapes in the Bounty have produced a few big strawberries. These look very different from the smooth-skinned Albions. The skin is covered with little yellow nubs.   |

Yummy. Are the yellow nubs you are talking about the seeds (or actually the fruit so they say).

Yummy. Are the yellow nubs you are talking about the seeds (or actually the fruit so they say). The yellow nubs seem to shrink back into the skin surface as the berries ripen. I'm not sure what they are. Probably they are the seeds, because there don't seem to be any inside the berry.  Yes, strawberries always grow their seeds on the outside. I'm not sure what the reason is in the grand scheme of things. |

Day 43 Today I ended the Bounty strawberries. The Seascapes have produced 3-4 large, sweet strawberries, but strawberries take a lot of supervision! The roots were fairly healthy, but there were lots of brown particles in the bowl when I emptied it. Commercially-grown strawberries are considered a "dirty" crop because of pesticides: Strawberries are "dirty" cropIn an AG, they seem to be a literally dirty crop! |

Well, you certainly did better than most people who have attempted strawberries in an AG.
They are very informative and interesting projects to follow!
