Day 29 (6/16/22) Ended Yesterday I ended the Farm strawberry garden planted with end-of-growing-season, sale-priced strawberry crowns. They were producing tall leaves, but few flowers, and I was tired of doing weekly R&Rs with daily pH testing. I did transfer a couple of plants with healthy roots and developing strawberries to an ongoing Bounty strawberry garden. I want to grow some fun stuff now, like flowers for my front patio display. For a related post about why strawberries aren't the best choice for a Farm, see this link. Ending this garden at the same time as another Farm left me with two grow decks to separate and wash. Fortunately I've discovered the world's best AG pry tool:  These are generic stainless steel knives, purchased from the housewares racks in a couple of grocery stores. They have skinny handles and aren't very comfortable to use as table knives. However, they're terrific for prying open AG Farm and Bounty decks, and for prying off ice while defrosting a freezer. They are also indestructible.  |
