As i was doing a deep clean in my grow room today i noticed one of my pumps wasn't giving off any air, so i took it apart and tried to fix it...didn't work, so i just wanted to let you guys know if you get a air pump don't go with Elemental brand they are not that good, i would highly suggest Terra Whisper (had that one running next to the Elemental for much longer and never once had any issue or noise issues, Elemental only lasted a few days and was pretty loud compared to the other)

I still have an Elemental as a backup. It works, but it IS noisy. I tried a Vivosun but I ended up with a General Hydroponics unit. It's pretty quiet and durable.

I did post this in a different thread but figured it was worth reposting I own the General Hydroponics expensive pump that Mike has and it is quiet, powerful, and reliable. Used 2 seasons no issues including all summer outside in a fan cooled water resistant hush box. Also have 2 of these 100 Gallon Tank Tetra Whisper Easy to Use Air Pump for Aquariums One was used for a season and the second was purchased this year. The first one I bought was noisy. I opened up and found a plastic part broken. Retuned to Amazon and replacement was very quiet, same as the GH pump. The second one I got this year was quiet not issue. These have 2 outlets. if you leave an outlet open or close it off to only use 1, the pump will be a bit louder. If both outputs are sent to stones under water it is very quiet. The output of the Tetra is not as great as the GH but is respectable here is am image of it running in a 2 gallon unit with 2 airstones, one at each end of the box.

I ran my 5-gallon buckets on the Vivosun pump. It was a commercial pump. It was very powerful, loud and way too much for what I needed. I had to put it in a closet with the door closed. I had to run the hose through the wall. I was still very motivated back then.

Uh-oh! I just bought a Vivosun 5-gallon unit from Amazon. The plan is to try it on the back patio, where there is an electrical outlet with a cover. It's just curiosity--learning about the various hydroponic systems is fun--so it won't be a disaster if the pump fails or is noisy. There are plenty of suggestions about replacement pumps here!

Lynnee, I don't know if this is the same model I have, but it looks exactly the same. It was way more than I needed. Vivosun Air Pump

Vivosun Air PumpIs that pump similar to the one that airscapes mentioned as super expensive? The Vivosun product that I ordered is this 5-gallon system. I figured that the setup instructions would be useful to someone who's never tried to set up an external pump before.

It's $85 now. I think it was $60 when I bought it in 2015. The General Hydroponics is about the same. It is much better, and much quieter. That is what I will buy in the future.

Yes, well one year it supplied air to six 5-gallon tomato, pepper and eggplant buckets and two greens totes. I was going to expand that.

Here were the Roma Tomatoes. This was December 2014. I got some tomatoes, but I was still learning.
