When starting lettuce do you put more than one seed in your sponge, and if so do you cut back to one plant after they have sprouted?
I always do this with the other things I grow but with lettuce I often let them all grow.
What have your experiences been?

I have always placed two seeds in and I never remembered trimming any out. You can view the remember gardens and see what others have done with their lettuce projects.
Lettuce is a fast grower and you should have lettuce to eat in 4 weeks.

The AG pods that I have been using have at least 2 or 3 seeds, because more than one plant always comes up. AG says not to thin these, if memory serves. They do fine for me without thinning.

I put about 3-5 seeds. Never had any problem with crowding once they matured.

The only problem I ever had was the lettuce getting so crowded that mildew would grow where air couldn't circulate.
So I'm the oddball that thins mine.

I have only used three cuttings for each harvest. It grows fast enough that I will restart. I also cut straight across the top and let regrow.

I sprouted my lettuce and spinach seeds using damp paper towel and a ziploc in the fridge. Then I just drop one that's germinated into the sponge with a pair of tweezers
Wee tiny seeds though, might be hard to see
