Day 41 Today I harvested about two dozen pods, and came up with a decent snack. The photo shows my harvest in a custard dish. I'm not sure that the harvest warrants the time, water, and energy expended on it, but I'm going to keep my 8 plants for at least another couple of weeks.   |

A mighty harvest!  I'm glad you're having a good experience with the Tom Thumbs! And I do agree that it's prooooobably not worth what you gotta put into them if the goal is yield. They're cute, though, and fun to grow! |

That's the problem with row crops like peas and carrots.. you need a lot of them to make it worth while. Broccoli is another vegetable that does not produce much for the space a single plant takes up.. Did grow it a couple of years but not wroth the effort and space for 2 heads of broccoli.. and the worms love it.. Hope you enjoy your peas, nothing like fresh peas from the plant!

Yesterday I ended the Tom Thumb peas, after 52 days. The leaves were drying up, and so were the remaining peapods. I harvested the pods and got enough peas for a dinner snack. This has been fun, because the peas are so cute! Next time I grow AG peas, I'm going to try to find a variety that will thrive like the Tom Thumbs but produce more peas.  |
