Did you know that you can sex an eggplant before purchasing it? There are male and female eggplants. Male Eggplants tend to have less seeds and are less bitter then those of the females. Yes, I did test this out and there were far less seeds in the male. Now you may be asking how do I sex an eggplant? Here is how you can tell. Look at the bottom of the eggplant. If there is a "dash" then it is female. If there is a "circle" it is male. However this is sometimes harder then you think to tell. A circle can look like one but if it is not an actual round circle it can be a female. Confusing? Yes it can be. So females usually have a deeper inset dash then the males circle. So try to look for shallow round circles to get an eggplant with less seeds and is less bitter! Good Luck sexing your eggplant. PS, I did not make sexing up, it is an actual term for this

Very interesting! Did not know this but will be interesting to see the balance of male vs female as they grow this season!
