My sweet heats have germinated, but there is little to see.

It's Day 11, and the Sweet Heats have emerged! I thinned these before taking the photo, removing one baby from each pod. Eventually I'll keep one plant in each pod.

The Sweet Heats are growing right along! Day 25, AG nutes only, thinned several days ago to one plant in each pod.

My Sweet Heats are about 4" high, and are starting to produce blooms. Both plants had a lot of branching leaves on the stems--suckers, really--so I removed those today. The plants seem to be stretching upwards a bit towards the lights.

The Sweet Heats got a rinse and refill today. They are doing well, but certainly aren't growing tall! I've started to remove the suckers and lower branches on the stems to encourage them to stretch upwards a little. There are a few blooms, but they're close to the stems and hidden by the leaves.

Finally I did a bit of research on the Sweet Heats. They are a "compact" pepper that only grows 10" high. I guess that I'd better keep the branches on mine! Fortunately I've done little more than remove suckers so far. plantaddicts.com/sweet-heat-pepper/

Yes, these are not tall at all. I do not think I ever had one over 10.5 "

When I did the R&R, I noticed that the tops of the Sweet Heats were struggling to get above the horizontal trellis, so I removed the trellis completely. Today the peppers look like different plants--they are stretching out and upwards. I'll try to post a photo soon. The trellis was actually blocking the stems from growing straight up.

The ones in the first photo are growing upside down. I really need to figure out how to prune short peppers like the Sweet Heats! These need more space for the fruit. Both of these plants have dropped a lot of blossoms, so I was surprised to see the peppers--especially the ones that are fairly far along.

They grow up and down. At least with every one of my sweet heats.

The Sweet Heats still need to be pruned, but they're healthy!
