This is a Lemon Yellow Jalapeno created in 1995 at New Mexico State University at the Chile Pepper Institute by crossing the Permagreen Bell pepper and the Early Jalapeno. The NuMex Lemon Spice Jalapeno Chile Plants grow about 2 feet tall. I am growing these on a 40w Bounty.
I've grown the other two varieties, Orange Spice and Pumpkin Spice. The 3 each taste different. This is my first time growing these.

I am really disappointed in the two pods that haven't germinated. I wasn't pleased with the sponges I used. They had microscopic holes for the seeds. I've had much better luck with the Park Seed sponges with larger holes.
I removed the two pods and transferred the seeds to new sponges. I had three seeds in for each sponge. None showed any signs of germination. We shall see.
Update: I changed my mind. I pulled those seeds out and replaced them with fresh seeds. They looked a bit waterlogged and not viable.
Added 8 ml nutes.

Good Call Mike. I only use Parks sponges Looking on Amazon I see a number of brands of "Aerogarden compatible" sponges. Didn't know this was a thing to consider.
Are you using the 60 cell sponges? From the photo on Amazon that appears to be the correct size.

Yes, the 60 cell is the correct sponge size for the Aerogardens. That is all I buy, now.

My reasons for using Park sponges are:
1. The seed hole is large. I have neuropathy caused by diabetes. This results in less feeling in my finger tips. The larger holes make it easier for me to place the seeds inside. I use an angled pair of tweezers to do so.
2. The sponge material is soft and absorbs water better and faster than any other sponge I've tried. I find it necessary to pre-soak the sponges so they don't float on the water. I feel the Park sponges are the best in this regard.
3. I like how the square sponge can be angled to receive the water from the grow deck a little better. This is probably only right at first, but it makes me more comfortable using these sponges.
4. I like the soft texture. I feel the roots will grow through this media more efficiently. Again, my opinion. But I will go with my gut instinct, here.
