These largely underreported Jalapenos just keep chugging along. Got off to a bad start, and one of the two plants died, so this is a single AG Jalapeno pod that's about 8 months old, and the last of my gardens where I'm still using stock Aerogarden nutes.  |

They look fantastic. Once the outdoor season is over, I'm looking forward to having AG pepper plants again because it seems they can produce for so much longer.

Funniest thing. Most of the peppers in this garden are red on one side, green on the other.
The red side is the outward facing side. The green side is turned in toward the denser part of the plant where I assume they're just getting less light.
But it's really funny seeing so many peppers split lengthwise in color like this.

I haven't written much about this project because it's been rocky from the start. At first, it just wasn't growing. Then, the left hand plant died. Then, the right hand plant got attacked on the right from my cherry toms in the neighboring harvest, and from the front by the TOMATO PLANT THAT TOOK OVER THE DINING ROOM.
I eventually got everything hacked back and it finally started setting fruit over the summer.
Today, I just harvested 20 (!!!!) pods from this unit. Twenty bright red peenos! Some were kind of small, most were the average size that I've come to expect from the AG Jalapeno kit.
All of them got chopped directly into the pickling jar, along with what I pickled last week. I now have a full quart jar of home grown bright red jalapenos.
Aside from frequent attacks by my brown thumb, this has been a really good outcome for an Aerogarden Harvest. I still have a bunch more still ripening on the thing, and it's popping new blossoms every day.

Harvested some 'Peños today. Mostly from this garden, a few of the larger ones from the plant in the Bounty that refuses to end.  |

Either make chili (I just got some lovely red habaneros from the super market today), or just chop them into rings and throw them into the pickling jar.
I've already filled that quart jar once, then took about a half-pint out to share at work, and will probably have the jar filled again soon.

I just used the last of my pickled jalapeños myself, so I think that’s my next thing too. Which reminds me, I should post a pic of what I made in our food section...

I still have three or four largish peppers ripening on this plant but today, I noticed that all the leaves have suddenly wilted, so I guess we're done.
Thinking it will be the proud new home of the Sport peppers I FINALLY got to sprout.

Almost 11 months, that’s great. I’m glad you got your Sport to sprout (say that 3 times fast) - looking forward to a description when you start the new garden.

Terminated 11/04, after 11 months of faithful and fruitful service until it died. I wonder if owing to where it sits (relatively difficult to reach) if I wasn't dumping and refilling often enough.
Also my last garden on which I was using stock AG nutes.
Future home of freshly sprouted Sport Peppers, but right now, its lid parts are in the dishwasher along with the lids of one other harvest and one bounty.
