My Aerogarden jalapenos that have been going for almost 4 months have one jalapeno turning from green to red.
My non-Aerogarden (Mountain Valley) Santa Fe Grande peppers that have been going for about two and a half months have 3 peppers turning from pale yellow to orange. This plant is doing very well. It is in the back center spot and the foliage is a bit wider than the Aerogarden Bounty.

There are now 3 jalapenos slowly turning red.
The 3 Santa Fe Grande peppers that were turning orange are now approaching red. I picked one and put it into an omelette. Since I read these are supposed to be fairly mild I chopped it up seeds and all. They were spicy enough to put sweat under my eyes.

These were not 3 alarm at all, just spicier than I thought they were supposed to be.
I'll try one later with some Aerogarden grown lettuce with the seeds and veins removed.

Okay, yeah, having the Santa Fe Grande (seeds and veins removed) with the lettuce is more like a bell pepper that finishes with a little heat.

The ripe ones always have better taste, I think. I haven't tried Santa Fe peppers in a while.

Mine always take forever to change color, so we eat a lot of green peppers. Pickled, they're good.

Mine always take forever to change color... The Bounty Basic says I am at 125 days for the jalapenos. The first one started turning red last weekend and it is about half red. This was the first Aerogarden I started and I have really enjoyed it but I planted to many pods to get the best yield. It started with red and golden tomatoes, 2 jalapeno, and a Thai chili. The red tomatoes started producing first but stopped when the pepper plants got taller. The golden tomato plant produced less and also stopped producing. The Thai chili started next and is still producing chilies. It's the biggest plant in the garden.
One jalapeno plant has 7 jalapenos with 4 turning red. The other jalapeno plant does not have any peppers but has grown twice as tall as the other plants to stay in the light.
Besides the 3 Santa Fe Grande peppers that were turning red (2 eaten) there are over 2 dozen peppers at various stages from just starting to about the size of the ones that ripened.
The newer Caribbean Red Habanero plant (only plant in Bounty Basic, although there was also a Bok Choy plant for the first month) is about 6 inches tall with huge leaves.
It seems one pepper plant per Bounty would be correct.

I put two pepper plants in a bounty. I put them in the front two pods. I think these two pods give them the most space and still puts them more central to the light source than the far left and right pods.

I put 2 in a Bounty. 2-3 in a Farm. It depends on the pepper plant size.

I try to keep the bottom 6" clean. Large leaves go when there is adequate top foliage. Leave enough room in the foliage for new peppers to grow. I'm still working on how much that should be.
I top most of the larger plants.

I've been struggling with the right pruning approach. At first I pruned the top when it got too close to the fully extended light. That led to much more growth too high. I've tried thinning them out throughout the growth period. That seems to work pretty well. My last attempt was to prune vigorously when the plant was young. That resulted in a plant that was desirably short but way too dense. There was no room for the peppers to grow.... SO, for me, pruning is still a work in progress.

Topping them when they have at least 3 sets of true leaves helps. It forces them to bush out and develop the base of the plant before they get tall.

I have six of the jalapenos turning red now and they look like they could be ready around the same time. I plan to use those for bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers. The peppers are small so it will be like 1/3 strip of bacon each.
A couple more Santa Fe Grande peppers turned red and this time I roasted them in the oven. I removed the skins when they were done. I tried one with the seeds removed and just as before - red bell pepper flavor with spicy finish. I tried one with the seeds - red bell pepper flavor with a Molotov cocktail finish (as in it sets your mouth on fire). (30 minutes later as I am typing this I have sweat under my eyes, on my forehead, sweat sideburns, under my arms and on my back.)
There's already 4 more turning orange. Looks like I will generally be using these peppers without the seeds as the spicy finish bell pepper is nice.
I topped the Caribbean red habanero at the beginning of last week. It had a number of large leaves almost as big as my hand. Yesterday seeing that there was some leaves growing inside I pruned half of the topmost large leaves. The plant is about 7 inches tall now.

Molotov cocktail finish! I love your description, tompepper7. I guess that you'll be removing the seeds from now on?

Molotov cocktail finish! I love your description, tompepper7 . I guess that you'll be removing the seeds from now on? Generally yes depending on usage. With store bought jalapenos I sometimes add 2 or 3 slices (diced) to add some flavor and heat to a dish. So that too. A YouTube video I saw had someone trying the pale yellow, orange, and red Santa Fe Grande peppers as they ripened. Maybe I should too.
I made some jalapeno poppers today with the ripe red jalapenos. A half strip of bacon was right for the mini jalapenos. Really nice flavor with heat at the finish.

I shut down my first Aerogarden. This is the one I planted way too much in but still saw some results. I had Aerogarden golden and red tomatoes and got some good tomatoes (but not a lot). I got some nice red jalapenos (again, not a lot). And a lot of really small Thai chilies.
I got my 1' extension for Aerogarden Bounty from NewHeroTech. I'll give this both a quick test and a hot plug test. The "quick test" to confirm it works and the "hot plug test" to confirm I can start the garden with the lowest light level then add the insert later.
I accidentally pulled out the USB connection when I was raising the light once and it was fine when I plugged it back in so I think the "hot plug test" will be fine.
