I noticed in YouTube videos that people prune their AG tomato plants mainly by cutting excess lateral growth and lower leaves, and not by cutting the main stem as AG recommends. I have 3 plants in a Bounty Elite, and since they are 5 weeks old I am considering pruning them. However I am reluctant to cut the main stem as AG recommends, since this may result in too much branching out (especially considering I am growing 3 plants in a limited space). Any advice? Thank you! 😊

When I prune tomatoes, raymoose , I take out the lower leaves that aren't getting light, and all the unhealthy twisted growth in the middle that doesn't have space to grow. I also take off all the leaf sets that have brown or yellowing leaves, because the plant is already shutting these down. I leave any stems that have healthy flowers and/or developing fruit, even if the stem is left sticking up above the main leaf canopy. The canopy will regrow and catch up soon enough. To prevent too much sideways and upwards growth, I take the growing tips off stems that are going where I don't want them to go. When you remove the growing tips, the plant will start a new growing tip at a node farther down the "terminated" branch. For this reason the canopy always comes back. You need to learn to recognize the actual growing tips, which start above new flower sets and and look like leaves.
