New user here, gonna start with some lettuce... Should I use all 6 pods in the Harvest? Would I have better results if I used fewer and covered up the open holes?

You can plant all six pods. And don’t bother thinning them. If it gets too crowded just harvest some of the leaves. But you should have a great harvest.

I agree with PatLab; I always fill the garden with lettuce pods no matter which model of machine. I like lots of lettuce and it always works great for me. I also don't thin the seedlings.

Welcome! With lettuce I tend to use all the holes. Make sure there is air flow around the garden as well.

I like to leave 1 hole open for every plant.

You could start by filling every hole and if you encounter any problems, just harvest a pod or two.

With lettuce, I plant 2 to 4 holes, which produces enough lettuce for sandwiches, which is all that my household needs. Right now I'm growing Baker Creek Merlot (a leaf lettuce), and planting just one hole. Merlot produces a really huge plant! Romaine on the left, Merlot on the right (after one cut-and-come-again harvest).  |
