Hello everyone! I did a forum search, and couldn’t find what I was looking for, so I apologize if this has already been asked and answered. I am not new to gardening, but this is my second countertop hydroponic system. The first one I bought a few weeks ago, that’s a competitor’s option (ahopegarden). I was always under the impression that you want to get as much light to your seedlings as you can during the first week or so of their growth, to prevent leggy behavior, and overall improve the quality of the initial growth. To do so, I’ve always had the lights an inch or so above the plants. The minimum light height on the bounty elite appears to be about 8 inches, while the knockoff can go all the way down to almost zero. In my brain, 8in is pretty far away for a seedling that’s just poking out through the top of the grow pod. Is the light really powerful enough to overcome the big deference in initial plant/light distance? Am I going to have to start them in one, until they are several inches tall, and transfer to bounty? Am I overthinking this?

I also have had no issues with seedling growth in any of the bounties.
At 8 inches, the bounty elite light output is about 25000 lux, 500 PPFD, or at 15 hours about 26 DLI.
This is about twice what most seedlings require...
and, yes, you can give seedlings too much light.

I’ve got a tiny Tim and basil plant in it right now, and they seem to be doing well ( It’s a 12 pod system). |
