I have seeds that I bought last spring from Renee 's Garden and the package show they expired 11/23.
How long are seeds good for, will they germinate and what should I have done to keep them fresh. Should I have put them in the freezer last summer? A little late, the horse is out of the barn now, but I hope they will still be viable.
Happy Holidays to all and thanks for always answering questions.

In 2005, a palm seed found in a jar in an archeological site in Judea that was carbon dated at over 2000 years old was successfully germinated.
You should have no problem with your expired seeds.
I store my seeds in a sealed jar in the refrigerator (not the freezer). I warm the jar up to room temperature before I open it so that moisture doesn't condense on it. I have no idea whether that makes them last longer or not.

I do find that different seeds types may have a different 'longevity". Some pelleted seeds are more difficult to germinate as time goes on. And flower seeds can be finicky. If you have any doubt, germinate them on a damp paper towel in plastic bag. Then you can move just the germinated seeds to your growing medium. It'll also give you a good idea of your germinate percentage.
