In this discussion -- The Seasonings -- Clovis's Herb Gardens. I love margherita pizza and caprese salad and fresh salsa, so I have two AG gardens for my two favorite herbs -- basil and cilantro -- On the left, genovese and thai basil, and on the right, a hedge of cilantro. Now I need to see if I can grow enough roma tomatoes in a Bounty to keep up with the salsa, pizza and caprese demands. And for your listening pleasure -- The Seasonings, S. 1/2 Tsp. by P.D.Q. Bach Peter Schickele, the forensic musicologist from UNSD-Hoople (University of Southern North Dakota at Hoople) who discovered P.D.Q. Bach, passed away last January, but P.D.Q. Look at that cilantro! You and Shawn seem to have the knack for it. Mine either doesn't germinate, or dies at the seedling stage. I need to try again with cilantro. Lots of HelloFresh meals use it, and sometimes the bagged herb is kind of tired.

I used these seeds -- Image is a live link back to Amazon, which I just figured out how to do. I planted them back in mid-December, and they are going still. I think, in fact, I'm pretty sure, I planted the Calypso. I put a couple of seeds each in three pods, and they all sprouted. And I gave each seed a nice little hug until it cracked a little.

My cilantro is about the same age, but is starting to bolt. I think I'm going to terminate soon (possibly tomorrow) and start over. It was a disadvantaged garden as it had a really rocky start, so I'm not surprised that it's bolting a little earlier than I expected it to. I also think 6 plants in a Harvest was too many. I like cilantro and use it, but I didn't need as much as I grew, and the plants were crowded and often drinking the water down low. It might be better to put the next cilantro grow in the basement, now that the weather is warming. Hopefully I can do better with my next batch! Love seeing your thriving plants, Clovis Sangrail !

The Seasonings, part Deux -- I terminated all the basil and mint and cilantro back in May and restarted the Genovese basil and mint on 5/12. Here they are on 6/7 -- And here they were this morning 6/23 -- And here they are now after harvesting enough basil to make a bridal nosegay -- I can't eat it fast enough. Time for some Margherita Pizza, and basil goes well in lemonade and Pimm's cup. That little dome in the back is a sad little Thai basil that I threw in as an afterthought. I hope to get some cilantro started next week.
