For the last few weeks I would walk by one of my gardens and hear the water running. To me that is a sign The Aerovoir is empty or stopped filling my garden. I give the primer ball several pumps look for air bubbles and walk away. This turned into a habit and after a week or so stopped working at all. I have space issues so I tee most of my Aerovoirs to fill 2 gardens. I checked all that and it was filling the other garden just fine. Finally had to take it all apart. I found 12 inches of roots so dense as to not let water through the line. I could not even pull the roots out , blow the roots or, try to make a fitting with my hand and use water pressure from the sink to push them out. They were really stuck. I had to use weed wacker line to push the roots out. Turned out that stuff is the perfect size to snake through your water lines.  20240409_213539 Nothing like biting the hand that feeds you. wow, that's fascinating. I've had the roots so dense at the end of the aerovoir hose that it stopped working but I've never seen it actually go up into the line.

My goodness! What kind of plant? A 64 day old cherry tomato plant. I have had this happen before but usually can just pull the roots from the water feed line. It usually doesn't stop the water flow entirely . I catch it when I am looking for air bubbles in the line most of the time. I guess I have had aggressive tomato plants over the years.  |

More roots different tomato plant. The Aerovoir refused to add anymore water to my garden. I pulled the line from the garden and saw roots again. I Was not able to pull them all out but, was able to use the pumping ball that is inline with the Aerovoir to get these out without removing the unit. I just put a cup below the water level and pumped and this came out. I believe this has happened to me at least 4 times but I have only documented it here twice. Just a reminder of what plant roots can do. This is a 264 day old tomato plant so it happens.  Roots |

Day 62 of my indoor grow and a totally clogged line. Cherry Tomato plant did it and last year it was day 64. I guess I grow very aggressive plants. Used a string trimmer line to clear it out. Had to go back and forth several times as it was really stuck.  20241109_082740 |
