Something going wrong with my basil plant that causes the leaves to have holes and also black spots/areas. Can someone help me identify the problem and fix it. Please check these images for more info: imgur.com/a/kEIBwv4

Thanks! Downy mildew is the conclusion I am coming towards as well. And it seems like the only solution is to throw away the plant once downy mildew has set in :(

Gee, I hope you don't have to throw the basil out. But basil grows really fast, so it could be worse, basilmon. Clean the AG thoroughly, including taking the deck apart if you're using a model that circulates water through the deck (e.g., Bounty).

Yeah, I'm really sad that it's come to this, basil was our first plant and has been growing great except for the disease. But even the Cornell paper you posted above mentions that most fungicides are rarely effective against downy mildew.
We were growing indoors, and the disease started when we left our AG Sprout off for 3-4 days when we were out of town. The roots also turned brown a bit. I snipped off the brown bits but the disease never really went away. Lesson learned to never leave the AG off for so long.
I thought of replanting the basil outside, but I'm not sure if I'll be introducing downy mildew to plants outside. And I don't want to do that.
