2024-10-10: Day 0 Seeds: Baker Creek Aerogarden: Bounty Basic Location: South 40, right side of table Water: tap Grow Medium: AG sponges Preferred pH: 6.0–7.0 Preferred EC: 1.5–2.5
Nutrients: none yet
3 pods planted, 3 seeds per pod, planted in the hole. All seems well with this Woot.com Bounty Basic too. LEDs all lit, pump running, electronics performing as expected.
Last time I grew mizuna was years ago, outdoors. I think it had a tendency to grow outward, but I don't really remember well. I'm going to give it space, in case.

Have you eaten pink mizuna before? Does it taste any different?
Here's a link to good info on mizuna:
If you haven't seen sher's website, it's a treat to watch her videos! Enjoy!

The last time I grew mizuna, it was outdoors, fall/winter, and under a row cover and it was years ago. I remember it was a green variety and I enjoyed it, that's about all. I picked the pink mizuna because it looked pretty on the Baker Creek site and also because supposedly the pink colors mean high levels of the antioxidant anthocyanin. It didn't hurt that it had 4.8 stars for reviews. Looks like it might spread out a bit, so I'm glad I'm trying it in a Bounty. Three plants might be overkill, but we'll see.

I grew 3 mizuna in a bounty. It was fine. I wouldn't try 4 though.

Good to know. Yeah, three seems like a good number for this plant. I thought about trying three kale, but after the experience with four kale plants, decided against it for the time being, since I'm not sure how the Black Magic Lacinato grows! I'm managing with three lettuce plants in the Harvest Slim, but I think two might have been less crowded and possibly happier. I'll probably try it with two at some point, and see how I feel about it. I know you can plant every pod with lettuce, but I'm never happy with the results when I do that.
