One almost dead Thai pepper plant, that's literally overshadowed by a mature Jalapeno plant, and one mature Jalapeno plant that's about 11 months old, and producing a lot of Jalapenos. I just harvested about a half dozen bright red jalapenos from this a week ago, and it looks like I have more coming:  |

I think I'm going to tear this Jalapeno plant down soon. It'll be 11 months old next week. But here's today's harvest, and they look just luscious:  |

I've got maybe six more pods that are ripening on the Jalapeno plant.
Last night, I started destructively pruning back anything that doesn't have a pod hanging from it. Hope that this will ripen by the end of the week, so I can find a new home for one of my sprouts.

took a couple more bright red peppers out of this, then hacked back most of what doesn't already have a pepper hanging from it. Planning on terminating and replacing it with a Sport Pepper plant.

And three more bright reds this morning. Looks like I'm almost done with this.
Amazed to see that the thai pepper plant, finally (literally) coming out from under the Jalapeno's shadow, is actually still alive and has three or four tiny ripe pods on it. Let's see what it can do now that it's not an also-ran in this garden.

Last Saturday, this Jalapeno plant had its very first birthday. Yes, I've been growing this plant for over a year, and it's still producing. In fact, every time I harvest, I hack back the entire stem figuring it'll be a stub that I can terminate before long. Instead, it just doubles up on what space it has left. While I'm waiting for one pod to ripen, it sets three new ones.   |

Wow, Dawn! I remember you were going to terminate this after you last hacked it. This has been a very strong seed!! Do you plan to try to save any of these seeds and see if the next plant is as robust?

Nope. It was just a bog-standard Aerogarden kit.
This alone has taught me that plants are way more resilient than I give them credit for.

It looks nicely short for a year old plant, nice for a short machine. Is it because you hacked the top at times?

This is the last of my stock Aerogarden Jalapeno plants. This is just the right hand corner of the plant. There are at least a dozen more peppers on the left side (not pictured here). Still producing after a year.  |
