hile reading I saw a post about someone growing Green Onions and they gave me the permission to post it here for our members. So here it is.
Using my AeroGarden to regrow Green Onions, here I am using store bought green onions and I cut them about 2-3 inches long from the roots, these ones are small to medium onions, and I was able to fit in 3 in to the pod without a sponge, and put it right into the aerogarden as long as the roots are in the water they will grow. To use them just cut above the pod after the new greens have grown. I like to wait till the greens are at least 6 to 8 inches long. (see photos below)
I’m definitely doing this! I order green onions with every grocery delivery even if I have nothing in mind for them, because inevitably the last bunch is already going bad. They do not last long in the fridge.
I tried this outside in a pot successfully but did not like it for various reasons. I‘m thinking these can even do fine in one of the empty pods alongside my peppers, so long as they’re long enough, so I don’t have to use another machine.
Thanks for posting this! For the last 1.5 weeks, I've had green onions in a shot glass perched on the Sprout with Jochalos/Aztek tomatoes. I thought about putting them in a sponge but it never even occurred to me to just use the cage and skip the sponge. Though I can fit more in a shot glass than I can fit in a pod.
I am the one who has the post about the green onions
I have 5 in the cage pod and here is the photo they are close to being cut down and used.
So far they are growing just like anything else and I have green onions weekly, not like I'm going to save a lot of money on green onions but every cent counts, plus they are there at anytime I need them.

Happy Growing Everyone!
Welcome, glad to see you post They sure did get big.
Having them on hand when I want them, and not rotting in the refrigerator, is fantastic, and is a big part of why I grow so many edibles in my AG’s. Thanks for the idea, ct130!
I have green onions growing from my store bought bunch. I have them going in the Harvest slim and harvest them just about every other day!. They are fast growing and great for salads and tuna, etc.
These are not from seeds(I believe the thread Shawn mentioned were from the cut off bulbs of store bought ones as well)
If anyone wants more info on this, I will add to my previous post and add a photo..
