These two pepper varieties look amazing. Please do update with images as they mature. I have young heirloom cherry tomato plants in my Extra, but my next project will be peppers, either in the Extra I have now, or perhaps I'll buy another. I use my Sprout LED for herbs, and have to beat them into submission, daily. I've always gardened in a hothouse and ground, depending on the plant. Our growing season is short, (Memorial Day to early-mid September), but fierce with so much sun in the summer. Crops are plentiful and grow to insane proportions. I love the idea of growing year-round, inside.

The pepper pods now have 2 seedlings each, though the roots are growing much faster on the lettuce pods. I'm afraid the lettuce roots will get tangled with the pepper roots and will damage the peppers when I eventually remove those pods. Can that happen? I might end up moving the lettuce in the back row to another machine. Look how much they've grown in just 2 days:  Next pic when the first true leaves come in. |

I forgot that I was going to post when the first true leaves came in. Since I can't see this garden from the kitchen, I keep forgetting to pick some of the lettuce for my salad in the morning and the peppers are slowly being swallowed up by a forest of lettuce:  It's good lettuce, though! |

After reading Mike's post saying he doesn't want to see buds before 45 days, I found 9+ buds on the bullnose albino! I cut them all off between last night and this morning, so I'm hoping it will start to catch up to the corbaci pepper.

It might be a little early, but I took 3-4 leaves off of each last night, taking the ones that were most in a position to block light from the new growth closer to the stem. This is my first time pruning peppers, and I'm still not convinced that I didn't screw it up, but they were still standing today:  |

Removing the lowest largest oldest leaves should be fine. They are looking like they are doing well.

In retrospect, I probably should've pruned just the Bullnose pepper (the smaller one). Had to raise the hood again this morning for the Corbaci pepper.

Help! I'm raising the hood every other day for the corbaci pepper (left), which is now starting to form buds. After cutting off the buds on the bullnose albino, they're now starting to form again, but the plant is still only half the size of its companion... I'm not sure what I need to do with them at this point.  |

It's Day 47. I've pruned the one on the left twice, and have raised the hood several times over the last 10 days. The corbaci pepper now has 3 open blossoms and the bullnose albino has 2.  |

It's shocking these were started together. This is a great teaching thread. Who could know that one would grow so much faster or taller than the other, especially since the Bullnose description (1.79 ft) stated a taller plant than the Corbaci (15in)!
