I had to get rid of the bullnose pepper on 5/21. It started wilting a few days before, and when I went to add water on 5/21, I saw thick white fuzz on the roots above the water. I'm not sure if something got to the roots and killed it, or if it died a few days earlier, but I didn't want it to spread to the Corbaci. I got 3 peppers from it (the orange-red ones at the top of the picture): 5/24 harvest, shown here with a smaller-than-average Ajvarski pepper, average Sheepnose Pimento, and average to large Sweet Pickle Peppers: Today's harvest: There are 6 peppers left on the plant and I'm starting to see new buds forming.

How disappointing about the Bullnose, but woo hoo on this haul! They’re beautiful!

Nice looking peppers. It is disappointing when you have to end a project due to something that goes wrong. But on the bright side NEW project!

Once the bullnose was removed, the corbaci didn't waste any time filling the rest of the tank with its roots. They're trying to invade the deck as well. I'm definitely going to have to take it apart once the project comes to an end. This picture was taken from a strange angle, but it shows the back of the plant weighed down with new growth. There are tons of flowers. I think the 2nd round is going to be even bigger than the first, which is hard to believe! Not sure how I'm going to keep it from toppling over, or keep the branches from snapping under the weight of the fruit...

Woo hoo! I’m glad you didn’t have to terminate this one as well. These are so cool. I ordered some a week or 2 ago, inspired by your garden. Medusa!!! Lol. Also, I find this helpful at times (learned from another one of our helpful community here. ). This with a jumbo binder clip hooked to the hood works. Badge reels and a binder clip help too, but sometimes the badge reels are too forgiving to the weight of the plant. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0057567U0/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have that soft, covered, flatish "wire" for mine, but I haven;t had to use it yet. I had it for my tomato and pepper plants in the greenhouse. They weren't determinate types and really grew like crazy.
That plant looks amazing!

I have and still do trim my roots. I do not go crazy but I do trim them monthly (after 6 months ususally). Also to aide in them spreading everywhere I turn my plants every day or every other. This forms more of a controlled ball like root. Been doing it for more then two years now and never had an issue with mine.
I also have that soft velcro

I can't lift the basin anymore without smashing the plant (even further) into the lights, so I've been removing the water for rinse/refills with a siphon hose, using a turkey baster to get whatever is left. I'm afraid to lift the deck more than an inch or so or the plant might topple over! Might try trimming the roots by slipping scissors through one hole and tweezers or forceps (or chopsticks?) through an adjacent hole. The plant has produced an absolutely ridiculous number of peppers - I don't know how it plans to support them all! I definitely want to grow this again at some point, but it will have its own machine from the start, will be planted near the center, and I will be topping it to try to keep it from growing into the lights. Pics from Day 141:

Fun!!! I bought these seeds because of your project - I have no idea why I didn’t recently put these in my starter rather than the older familiar seeds.
