I wouldn't plant it in anything that deep, not that far down. It needs light, and it will be a PITA to get to and maintain/attend the flowers and peppers.

I agree. It is not going to be that big. If that is the only container you have, you may want to fill it with a lot more potting mix. One important thing I have learned, you need drainage holes if it is going to be in soil or the roots will rot...

It's likely you'll lose at least some, if not all the buds you have now, after transplanting. It will suffer some shock. It should come back okay though, but be sure you keep it well watered, and as Corinne said with drainage, as it gets used to the new medium. If this is going to be a decent size plant, I'd get a 10 or 12 inch clay pot.

I’ve transplanted into soil and suffered no shock at all, but recent attempts I lost the plant completely. I don’t know what I did differently. Maybe try stressing them with less water for a day or 2 before transplanting, I don’t know. I agree with the others about drainage holes. Got to have those.
