It really is an incredibly dense plant. It's completely different than my other pepper plants were at this age.

The recipe sounds good! Did you substitute the sweet heats for the jalapeño or for the chilies?

The recipe sounds good! Did you substitute the sweet heats for the jalapeño or for the chilies? Apologies for the delay in responding. I used the Sweet Heats in place of the jalapeños, and I didn't even use the can of green chilies. I recently used a can of green chilies in a recipe and they really faded into the background, so I figured they'd really be muted in the face of the Sweet Heats. The recipe made a lot so I had leftovers I froze in 1 cup containers. I thawed one last night and it really was super. I'm very happy with it. And especially with the Sweet Heats because, for me, they have more dimension than jalapeños. Then again I am kind of a wimp when it comes to heat.

I made the beans today! I misread the directions and chopped up a bunch of my sweet heats to replace the green chilies and the jalapeño. I removed most of the pepper after cooking though. It gave the beans a nice kick but wasn’t too spicy. I wife and I both enjoyed it. Thanks!!!

Your very welcome! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Btw, even though I put my peppers in whole, I think they pretty much disintegrated under pressure and I don’t remember fishing them out, so I don’t think you can go wrong either way. She probably calls for putting them in whole as a shortcut.
