I'm just finding this thread and I find your 3D printing projects to be absolutely amazing! I do have a few questions. 1. If you guys don't use the fill hole tomput water in, how DO you fill? 2. What is "Thingiverse"? 3. Is this design for the older Harvest models only? I got mine at Christmas and I keep seeing things that say the new one isn't compatible with the old accessories and such! Thanks! I have answers! 🙂 1. It's easy enough to lift the deck and refill on most models. Maybe slightly more of a pain, but perhaps worth it for gaining to extra plants. 2. Thingiverse is a site where people can freely share the files for their designs and models for 3D printing. 3. Yes, this will only work on the classic Harvest models. Something like this *might* be possible on newer models but I don't own any and haven't looked at them yet. Also: Thanks! 3D printing is pretty exciting tech. I feel fortunate to have such broad access to it. I am a total amateur at 3D design/modeling but I think I've figured out enough to be useful.

Thingiverse is a place where people who've designed 3D printable models can upload their models to share them with everyone else. So far, most of my Aerogarden models haven't worked that well - I'm on my third or fourth try to print something as simple as an extender arm for the light hood on a Bounty. The last couple I printed worked OK for a while, but as soon as I removed the plants, the pressure of the hood cracked and broke the extenders, telling me I have to design in more strengthening.
But, I've printed lots of those hole covers, and I got the model for those off thingiverse. If you get on there and do a search for Aerogarden, you can see various ideas, including Nick's cover for the Farm's water hole.

And, I'll go along with Nick: 3D printers are magic and it's just mind blowing what you can create with one. After you get pretty facile with 3D CAD (Computer Aided Design) software, it's like you think, "I need something" so you can sit down, sketch it out, print it, then use it.
One day, I wanted a hangar to hang my headphones off the side of my desk. So, I took my calipers in to work and within a few minutes had a nice model that I use to this day. It makes me feel like I almost know what I'm doing.
Although I'd originally bought my first printer explicitly to make things for my Aerogardens, I keep getting sidetracked on other things. Nick's been much more prolific than I have been with his creations. Very useful!

Gina, when I first started playing with this idea, I only put in 7 pods, and would lift the cardboard to add water. aerogardenaddicts.com/post/13327I've looked at photos of the newer Harvests, and doubt that this would work for them. Welcome to our forum!

Welcome to our forum! I have a new Harvest and it will NOT be possible to do this. The Water level bubble cover is in the way. See the following pictures.
If one were to not use that water pump bubble it can be done HOWEVER the roots would go directly into the pump.

I need one of these to allow just one basket in the water hole. For my 5 older Harvests, lol. (I like to plant no more than 3 herbs per Harvest)

Yes, that is what mine looks like. Thanks.

I apologize for my absence lately. I do have garden updates to share, but I am slammed at work and leaving town on a 5-day business trip in the morning. However, I couldn’t help but send a quick post to let everyone know that I finally strung enough free minutes together consecutively to finish the Harvest Cheat! Behold the Mark VIIII prototype (which will be the final version)! I don’t want to explain why it took nine tries but I’m happy with the result. Many many thanks to Happy for the inspiration and Shawn for lending me the Harvest deck. You can both have as many Cheats as you’d like. (Shawn: I’ll send yours back with your deck.) As for everyone else who’d like one: 1. I should have the file up on Thingiverse in the next few days so that folks with access to a 3D printer can print their own. 2. If you don’t have access to a printer, know that I can only print a few at a time and it takes me a little while to be able to drop by the labs to pick them up and then mail them off. If you’re willing to endure that wait, I’m happy to give it a shot for $10 a pop (including shipping). I’ll clean the parts up when they come off the printer and get them out to you via USPS Priority Mail. Just send me a PM. Glad to finally have this one ready for everyone! Update: I've added the file to Thingiverse! www.thingiverse.com/thing:3388704

Excellent job there Nick. I appreciate you attempting and doing these.
As for getting on and posting, I understand things get hectic and especially when you have to go away on business. Life happens sometimes.

Hi all.
I wanted to post an update to say that I'm going to have to stop taking orders for these parts for now. The labs at work are quite a bit more busy than they used to be and I have far less time to get by there these days. I'm still going to get parts out to everyone who has already paid me. Hopefully that'll be done very soon.
For anyone who is still interested in these parts: I highly recommend downloading the file from the Thingiverse link in this thread, then searching for a 3D printing service that will print the parts and mail them to you. They will likely get it done much faster than I will. If you need help deciphering options on a service let me know and I'll try to help.
