I planted a collection of basils a couple weeks ago - Cinnamon, Emily, Lemon, and Lettuce basil. All have come up, but one of the Lettuce basils looks like something took a bite off the top. I don’t think this one will make it. I’m glad I planted 2 of those.

Hmmm. Is it too late to start another one? I'm looking forward to your lettuce basil(s).

Very nice with the exception of the one pod. It is funny to see the different rates that different Basil take to grow.

Hmmm. Is it too late to start another one? I'm looking forward to your lettuce basil(s). Good point, I could actually still plant another. But taking into account Shawn’s observation about their various growth rates, I might plant a 2nd Lemon instead. The Lemon always shoots up taller, almost leggy, with more space between nodes (and it bolts fast). Also, the Lettuce basil is really plentiful given the huge size of its leaves. I really love the Lettuce basil, I’m so glad I found it. In fact, the Lettuce and Lemon basils have become my favorite so far. Thanks for reminding me I can replant I don’t know why that didn’t occur to me.

Almost 3 weeks The cinnamon basil (below pic) is looking undernourished or something, and Emily doesn’t look great either (front left in upper pic). Lettuce basil looks good.

I kind of can’t remember if I used AG or Ionic nutes. Hmm. Maybe I have to do an R n R and start nutes over.

I have tried higher and my herbs did not like it. MaryL , if I remember correctly (but don't hold me to it ) we both tried the iconic and both of us had this problem. This was like two years ago I think.. Or around there. I found a sticky i put notes on taped to my bottle

What will you do with the basil when harvest time comes? Do you use them all in cooking or dry them?

I use them all fresh. I’ll even pop them in sandwiches if I have a lot. They’re surprisingly great in sandwiches.
Shawn, unfortunately before I read your comment I gave them more Ionic tonight. 5 ml. I’m inclined to agree with you, though I don’t know. I like Ionic for lettuces, I know that. But it might just be that I gave the wrong dose. I accidentally treated the Ionic the same as the AG nutes, dose wise.
I topped the anemic cinnamon, and cut some unhappy big leaves off the lemon.

Mary, let me know how they do with the Iconic. How much do you give to the Large machines every two weeks? Maybe I will try with my lettuce. Mine are in the Ultra.
Maybe these both will not thrive.

I just revisited Shawn’s post about proper Ionic dose. It is 4 teaspoons per gallon. I definitely underfed them, but not sure by how much because these are in a Harvest.
How much water in a Harvest again?? I tried to find on AG’s website but couldn’t find it. Their info isn’t as well organized as it could be.

Harvest hold 64oz of water. So half a gallon, I believe. Hopefully I will be able to remember that in my sieve-like brain. Thanks Shawn!
