So excited to begin another bean garden. These beans are sweet and tender, and so cute!

As you can see, I had no trouble with the first 3plants coming up, but I did with the other 4. I think my problem is that I don’t understand which direction to place the bean seeds to make the root go down and the stem come up. So I germinated more seeds in a paper towel and waited to transplant until I could see the root well enough. The new crop is coming along just fine

More growth in just a few days! I lost one but am not going to replant given there is already a disparity.

Pretty soon I’ll have wee beans starting to form. This was yesterday, day 23 for the original 3 plants. I’ve had to raise the hood for those already.

very healthy looking plants, Mary! How are you going to trellis if they need it? Any thoughts?

But, that may be because they got sick and I had to terminate them after the first bits of harvesting, so maybe they didn’t reach full height. We’ll see!

I used chop sticks, too. It works pretty well. Don't use the shorter ones. I also bought some wooden dowels to try for next time. You can trim those to size.

Oh that’s right, I remember that now that you mention the dowels. I went ahead and ordered the dowels and my garden died before I could use them. What did you use to cut them down to size? Here is the the size of the garden as of a few days ago (Monday?), I believe at day 27. I raised the hood for the 2nd time. I have lots of buds but no babies yet.

I gave the plants a big trim of the biggest leaves. The plants were getting so fat with leaves that they were pushing each other over, because I don’t have them staked for support. Once they were trimmed, I turned them each to have them lean on each other and the post for support. I have have lots of baby beans. This is the most mature and is pretty much ready to snap off for a snack.
