I trimmed the longer branch off the top to keep it out of the CFL’s and they’re doing great. what do you see here? all I see are 2 broken link icons rather than pictures. Must be an update or something with my machine..

They ripened quickly! How do they compare in terms of taste?

I haven’t tasted the red yet because they ripened more slowly than the yellow. I’m looking forward to a taste test.

Thank you! I’m really pleased with the size and look of these plants. I remember them as bigger and less attractive. Maybe that was when they were 3-4 harvests in.

The day of our road trip, I relieved the plants of the weight of a baggy’s worth of fruit. We snacked on toms and bagel chips on the way to our holiday destination.

They look good, especially with the colors of tomatoes

Those are beautiful plants! Have you been pruning the lower growth or do they naturally grow without much foliage around the base?

I'd be interested in the taste test comparison, too. I'm still reading about all the different varieties for my next project. I have plenty of time unless I get another Aerogarden.
How long do the mature tomato plants produce once they start, in an Aerogarden? Are all types the same?

I agree..the plants are kept very nicely and are showing very tempting fruit! This is a great project!

Thanks everyone!
Regarding the pruning, I did cut some of the lower foliage off. It often gets yellow or starts to die off so I remove them. It looks better, but I also think it’s better for the plant.
Both my husband and I prefer the yellow tomatoes over the red. The yellow is more mellow. Less tangy. Interestingly, the yellow fruit is smaller than the red, for some reason.
I haven’t grown tomatoes in a very long time (well over a year), but if I recall, they can keep producing for 6 months or more. Aside from 1 failed garden, I’ve only ever used the AG tom kits. It’s very hard to find varieties that are dwarf enough for the machines. Corinne has found a few good ones, though, and listed them under the “Recommended” section.

I actually did some review reading on the Red Heirloom Cherry from AG, and several people have had the same plants for 1-2 years. The plants over a year old weren't producing as much, but apparently still quite a bit. That's pretty impressive!

Even though I hadn’t harvested everything yet, the plants had a growth spurt and they have new flowers.
