OK, how thit that one get ripe already? These peppers are too small for that. They are supposed to be larger than golf balls. This one is 3/4" of an inch.

Folks, I am 99.9% sure these are not Bhutlah Scorpion peppers. I am sure I was sent the wrong seeds. The Bhutlah Scorpion is supposed to be golf ball sized. These aren't close. The Bhutlah Scorpion is supposed to rival a Carolina Reaper at 2.2 Million SHU. Take a look of the photo of the six orange peppers in front of my dehydrator. Based on the uniform size, shape and general appearance, I have to say I think these are Dragon's Breath peppers, the words hottest pepper at the moment at 2.5 Million SHU. I already gave two of these peppers away. I had to text them to warn them. I haven't had the nerve to try them, thank God!

oooooh I didn't know someone broke the reaper's record!! I'm gonna have to try getting my hands on some! Have you grown dragon's breath before?

No, and I'm not absolutely sure these are Dragon's Breath, but they look like them. And there is another pepper out there called Pepper X. It was created by the same guy that created the Reaper. It isn't officially recognized yet, but it is over 3 million SHU.
The weirdest thing is I picked these peppers tonight with my bare hands. My fingers are numb. And I've washed my hands 6 times. I'm wearing gloves now.

Ah well they DID develop it for anesthetic purposes, I always wear gloves and glasses with my reapers too, even just to harvest them. Crazy that just handling it without breaking the skin made you go numb!

mike, is there a point at which peppers become so hot they are toxic? These sound scary.

Peppers this hot can cause harm. Not from toxicity, but from shock to the system.
As for the numbness in my fingers, that's more from my diabetes and having to jab my fingers to test my blood sugar than anything else, I'm sure. But I didn't want to take any chances so I washed my hands repeatedly. I did think of the gloves in advance, but picked them anyway. I was stupid.

OK, maybe these are Bhutlah Scorpions, after all. These peppers are approaching golf ball sized. They are all on the same plant.
