Most of the pelleted petunia seeds have sprouted! I'll need to thin them a little, I think. They're at 15 days now. It worked to change the pump settings to "always on". How many plants did you get from each pellet? Did you do anything special of just plop them in the sponge? I have a couple packs of seeds I want to start but wasn’t sure what to do with the pelleted seeds.

How many plants did you get from each pellet? Did you do anything special of just plop them in the sponge? I have a couple packs of seeds I want to start but wasn’t sure what to do with the pelleted seeds. The pelleted seeds were a couple of years old, so I just added what was left of them (10 seeds per variety?) to the tops of the sponges in the pods. Many of them germinated. Aim at the tops of the sponges because pelleted seeds aren't supposed to be covered over--the coating needs to melt off. scarfguy mentioned that the tops of the sponges may dry out if you use germination mode (pump runs 5 minutes each hour). So I changed the pump to "always on". (That is, run 60 minutes and turn off for 0 minutes; or any other setting that does the same thing for your model.) This worked to melt off the coating and keep the seeds wet enough.

Not too shabby for 2-year-old seeds! Colors are purple, pink, red, coral and yellow. They are "Shock Wave" and "Easy Wave" petunias. The labels can't be read at present! The left photo below is a huge non-Wave variety called "Double Cascade". It's at top left in the photo above. The right photo is a deep purple Wave variety with blooms that are poking out on the backside of the mass in the main photo. The petunias are pulling a lot of water every day. They're too tangled to separate, of course.

Would someone please tell me if I am mistaken or has good old Burpee done it to me again. I went to start my pelleted petunia seeds in my Bounty. Set the pump to always on and got everything ready. The package says “26 pelleted seeds”. I opened the package and went to pour them out on the counter to place in the pods. There was at least 100 seeds in the package and they didn’t look pelleted to me. So my question is - How big are pelleted seeds? I thought they were about the size of a pepper seed. These are about 1/3 of the size of a lettuce seed. I went ahead and planted them since I had everything ready but they weren’t what I was expecting.

swimmom500, my pelleted petunia seeds were the color of white clay, and a bit smaller than mustard seeds. They were from Park Seed, I think, which ships them in a little vial inside a sealed foil wrapper. Often Burpee envelopes contain more than the advertised amount of seeds, because the advertised amount is the "guaranteed germination" number of seeds. Once I got an envelope from Rare Seeds that actually had a label saying something like "extra seeds due to 25% germination rate". It could be that your petunia seeds weren't pelleted, which is preferable for AGs anyway. Can't wait to see what you get! I'm really big on petunias at present.

Based on what you said they are definitely not pelleted seeds. Hopefully Petunias is what I get. I also planted some old Lavender seeds a couple weeks ago which have not germinated yet. I am trying to attract some bees to my yard as my Blueberry bushes and my strawberry plants are starting to flower. I added more seeds to the lavender pods but then I noticed on the package that germination time is 14-28 days. I may be over run with those since I now have around 6 seeds in each pod. Lol!

The Rocky Top and Merlot lettuces haven't bolted yet! They still taste good, too. I grow lettuce with AG nutes only.

The petunias continue to delight! I definitely need to get more of the Double Cascade petunia for my outdoor display this spring. The petunia display needs water topping off once or twice a day, but they're worth it! Back view, with Double Cascades at top left: Coral and Purple Wave/Shockwaves: Dark red Wave/Shockwave:

Today I terminated the petunia garden, even though it was still blooming. The overcrowded plants were sprawling all over and generally looking messy. I need to start some more seeds soon, for transplanting to my outdoor display rack.

Sorry to hear it, but yeah, eventually, like many plants, they end up not so gorgeous. Besides, it's always fun starting a new garden.

Wow a year from 1 tomato plant that's great. The Veranda Red seeds you sent me are now 24 days old. I have 2 plants in a bounty. Will post pics when I have more time. Why does it look like 10 inch needles on those syringes ¿

Here are a couple of photos of my oldest Veranda Red tomato, which is still producing at 376 days! I just pruned it again, and now it looks sort of like a bonsai, from the first angle, anyway. This plant has produced tons and tons of cherry tomatoes. 376 days is impressive! I see you like those long needle syringes, but yours look even longer than mine. What size and where'd you get them? Mine are 10ml, but I don't think they are going to reach to the bottom of my Flora series bottles when the time comes....

mike is the one who found these long dispensing needles, pfunnyjoy. They're from Amazon, of course. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08621LZJD/They're long enough to reach the bottom of the large-size AG nutrients jug, a Koolbloom bottle, or a CalMag+ jug. I reuse them, so I label them according to which of the three they are used for.

What's the taste like on these? I like the idea of a plant that can yield a lot of tomatoes over time. I love cherry tomatoes!

I added these to my cart too. I was wondering what I was going to do when my flora series got too low for the syringe to reach.
