I buy industrial sized bags of citric acid and baking soda. Soak them overnight and they look new with very little effort.
Because of my Mom's birthday and football, I didn't get to the Bounties last week. However, I just put both bowls in to soak for my Farm XL.I'm going to move that this weekend.

This morning I was able to move the Farm XL across the Living Room to the back side of the Dining Room. I don't know how many more times this old body will be able to do that by myself. I still need to get the book case and tool cabinet out of there. That won't be this weekend.

Tomorrow, I will be starting two super hot peppers I've never grown before. Hurt Berry Peppers and Jamaican Chocolate Habaneros. These will eventually be grown in my Farm XL, both are over 3-foot tall.
I will be germinating these in my Super Sprouter, an Amazon product. I will be using a Park Seed block for the sponges. I will try 4 seeds of each, 1 per sponge. The Sprouter comes with a 7 inch dome, base, heating pad and a T5 bulb that lays on the dome. I will be controlling the light with a smart plug connected to my Amazon Echo Alexa device. I also have a thermostat to control the temperature.
I've never used this before, so I am only using 4 of the 10 seeds of each in case it doesn't work properly.

Well the Sprouter isn't going to work. My main fear was the sponge block would float. Sure enough, it floats. Weights and duct tape don''t really help.

Mike, why did you want to use the Super Sprouter? Have you considered getting an AG Seed Starter tray? I love them! Especially the one for the Harvest, since there is nothing to do except set it on the unit. I've not tried the one for the Sprout, but it seems to be a similar process to set up. Anyway, it worked really well for me to start flower seeds for 2 Bounties.

The AG is great for keeping the sponge moist and the dome keeps the humidity up during germination. But tropical peppers seeds germinate best in an 80-85° environment. After the seed has germinated, it can be transferred to the AG and the added heat isn't an issue.
I have a heat mat and thermostat to control it. The sprouter will keep the humidity in. I may have to go to rockwool to do this.

Ahhhhh....now I see and that makes sense!

I guess I'll do that another time. I have a couple of new ideas to do that. Meanwhile, I will plant the Farm XL like normal, today.

mike Have you ever germinated pepper seeds using the plastic baggie and wet paper towel method? You can easily use a heat mat with this method. It has worked well for me although I haven't done it with "superhots", just jalapenos and cayenne so far. After the seeds have germinated you carefully transfer them to a grow sponge. Gapey's Grub on YouTube has two videos showing the process with hot pepper seeds from start to finish although she is transferring them to potting mix. I think Aerogarden Experiments has a video using this same method with cilantro seeds. If you are interested and can't find the videos, let me know. I wasn't sure if it's ok to post a link to YouTube.

mike Gapeys Grub did more than one video on this subject and she modified her method so the more recent videos are best in my opinion. If interested, check out "Germinating Hot Pepper Seeds in Paper Towel" dated January 1, 2019 and "Planting Germinated Pepper Seeds" dated January 8, 2019. The Aerogarden Experiments video showing how to transfer sprouted seeds to grow sponges is titled "Grow Cilantro in Aerogarden Harvest Successfully" dated September 11, 2021. Happy growing!

Yes, I use that method periodically. I always do for peaa and beans.
