I was just thinking that I'm going to try growing radishes in a Harvest with a seed-starting deck. I could grow 23 radishes at one time in that setup! I'm going to plant it tomorrow and see what happens. Has anyone done this already?

Yes, slw , you can grow radishes in a Harvest or even a Sprout. The trick is to make sure that the red portion of the root that enlarges into a radish stays atop the sponge at the grow deck level. I put those little round clay balls into the bottom of the baskets so that the sponge tops would stay even with the deck. If you let the root go down too far, it will grow into the sponge, which makes the radish inedible. Maybe it wouldn't kill you to eat some sponge, but it's too gross to contemplate! I'll watch your project with interest, because I'm sure you can get better crops than I did! Thread on Sprout RadishesThread on Ugly Misshapen Radishes

Actually, I'm asking about the seed-starter deck, Lynnee. It has 23 spaces for sponges so I can raise more radishes at a time.

I decided not to bother with a fall outdoor garden because it's still in triple digits in Houston. I know it's just too hot, especially with overnight temps still in the 80s. I am so ready for summer to be over.
At any rate, I'll be using my seed-starter decks for something!

A bounty full of bountiful gerbera daisies is blooming today. This variety is called "Cartwheel Chardonnay".

Which seed company has those gorgeous gerbera daisies, scarfguy ?
I got them from another Etsy merchant:
They are quite expensive as far as seeds go at $10 for 15 seeds.
They germinated really slowly and I almost gave up on them. I think I burned them with fertilizer too when they were just seedlings. Eventually, they took off and have a lovely dark green foliage not to mention the blossoms.

Thank you for your generous offer, swimmom500. I found the seeds on Amazon so I added them to an order. I don't have an available AG right now so I'm in no rush... but I will be looking for your updates.

I was surprised by how small they were since most of the things I try outgrow my AG.
These were billed as being 8-10 inches and sure enough mine are topping out at 9 inches at the top of the flowers. You might be able to grow them in a harvest but a harvest XL or a bounty would be better.

Today I started radishes in the Harvest seed-starting tray. If they are successful I should have 23 radishes! To start them, I covered the entire deck with Saran Wrap since the grow domes won't fit the seed starter tray. I suppose once they germinate I'll put some foil or something on top of the sponges to keep mold from forming.

Yesterday and today I spent on sorting my Aerogarden accessories and seed kits. I threw out the kits that were more than 2 years old, and still have two small storage bins of AG kits. They are mostly veggies (peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, eggplants), but there are some flowers, too (Mountain Meadow, lavender, moss rose, cascading petunias). I still have four small bins of AG equipment (trellises, sprouting felt, baskets, sponges, etc.). I want to consolidate these, and cut them down to two or three, so that they can go to the garage. They're in the way where they are now, which is in front of the closet in the garden room.

My "dwarf" (not!) snapdragon mix has outgrown my Harvest XL as snapdragons always seem to do.
Since it's looking rather ratty, today, I decided to use it as a long-lasting stock plant for fresh cut flower arrangements.

Those snapdragons are fabulous, SG! WOW.
I did some re-arranging in my garden area so now the Harvest lights will all be on wonky schedules... again. I just can't leave well enough alone. I was somewhat shocked to see that the radish seeds have ALL germinated in the seed starting tray. Less than 24 hours since I planted them! Plants are so amazing. I hesitate to mention that even though most people advised me to not bother with a Sprout, I bought one anyway. I got sucked in by the Woot deal ($35... "practically free!") P.T. Barnum was correct, what can I say? So I set it up next to a Bounty and put a couple of petunia pods in it. I'm sure they will germinate by Christmas or thereabouts, lol. I'm happy that I put the banana pepper "cull" seedling into a Kratky jar. It has a bunch of peppers on it; one is a pretty good size already.
