Very nice pepper corner. I picked my laptop up and took it over to my non-deadly nightshade corner, then I held it up in front of the Hatch chiles and said "See? You can do this." The little guy is trying, bless its heart.

Unpacked an open box, $62 (shipped) Harvest Elite 360 from eBay that arrived this morning.
Appears to be working after a quick plug in. I had to clean off some sticker residue (not AG) from the back side, which then exposed a small flaked area of the platinum finish. Nothing I'm worried over, as it won't be seen, but I did put a dab of clear nail polish on it to seal it down against further flaking. Then there was some AG tape residue on the bowl sides and top of the deck, so I got out the Goo Gone and dealt with that. And to be sure there's nothing chemically untoward left on the deck, I pried it apart and thoroughly washed it.
Not sure what I'll plant in it yet. I'll look through my seeds. It came with yet another Gourmet Herb kit. I'll likely save that for a later time.
Next, I need to haul the 2 Woot Bounty Basics downstairs. I want to get them set up and planted with something green, just to be sure there are no warranty issues while something can still be done about that.
Hubby, the NOAA weather forecaster, had me disconnect the hoses and cover our faucets yesterday, because "we are going to get a hard freeze, around 28F." Lowest it got was 36F ... so our volunteer cherry tomato out front lives on another day.
Meanwhile, after the rinse and refill, my two Tatsoi plants are getting bigger every time I look at them! I harvested two lower leaves off the larger of the two and munched them right up. Delicious! Watercress is due for a rinse and refill, the light hasn't gone on yet, but it's day 14, so hopefully I'll get that done in a bit.

I picked and immediately ate my first Iznik cucumber of the new planting. Now I remember why I like those so much.

Got up and went downstairs this morning to be greeted by a screeching noise from the AG room. Oh dear... apparently I forgot the First Rule of Aerogardening; "don't believe the lying water level indicator." The Bounty water level says "full" but guess what?? It isn't. Just a bowl full of cucumber roots and the pump screaming.
I added water while I made myself a cup of coffee and it seems to be OK. I have no idea how long it was pumping nothing but I'm glad I scored those spare pumps from the going-out-o-biz sale.

I have always ignored the water level indicator.
I just top off all of my AGs every morning (while my coffee is brewing)

Yeah, I used to do that, too. Unfortunately my "hiatus" from AGing made me forget everything I used to know. So I'm having to re-learn through trial and error. Lots of T&E going on.

Spare pumps are a good thing! You never know when having one might save a grow. I couldn't trust my terminated kale Bounty Elite grow at all, as roots were always interfering with the water level indicator. I'd trim, and for a few days, life would be good, then boom, the kale roots would get in it again. I will never do 4 kale plants in a Bounty again! I'm not even convinced that three would work. I never actually heard the pump screaming or found the garden out of water, but I suspect I may have shortened its lifespan with that particular grow.

First, I watered all the gardens, all the little plants have been drinking, a good sign. Then, I pH tested everybody. It was running really high on the Tatsoi, but the plants had not shown any signs of "suffering" yet, so hopefully caught that in time. Only a little bit high on the other gardens. I adjusted them and re-tested, all good now. Then, I sanitized a Bounty bowl, still need to do a couple Bounty decks/pumps, which I don't look forward to. Also sanitized some old 2009 garden spacers, that had gotten algae on them. I wasn't sure it would come off, as it was where I couldn't get at it on the old-style spacers, but it went right away. After which, I decided to plant the recent eBay open box Harvest Elite 360 ($62 shipped). I've put in two of my own pods (Arugula) and having found another AG "Mystery" salad greens kit, one pod of those. Might as well use them. Unit seems to be working fine and will provide a little extra light to the Tatsoi in the Harvest Slim next to it. I'm looking forward to a very small, but hopefully tasty side-salad tomorrow. My Parris Island Cos is looking nice! I'm really glad I spaced them out and thinned to one plant per pod. Now they can grow more like normal lettuces. I might have to try a garden with only two lettuces, let them really go to town! The Tatsoi will be taking part in the salad as well. Would have harvested sooner, but have been sick for a few days, not much appetite or energy.

Been sick, and with a sore throat, so couldn't quite face a salad yet. With the result that my Parris Island romaine lettuces were in DIRE need of a harvest! I got 60g, enough to make a large breakfast salad with sardines. I added a bit of Tatsoi to that, plus onion, and a generous quantity of cherry tomatoes from the now-defunct frozen volunteer plant out front. The little lettuces need watering and perhaps a further neatening at the bottoms, so once I've eaten my salad (It's delicious, I dressed it with Greek olive oil and lemon juice.), I'll get on that and a general pH testing for everybody. I've got little rocket sprouts, and looking forward to those in salad too. I thinned one pod and ate the tiny seedling, delicious! I love arugula! The watercress is starting to go nuts, and while I'm thinking about it and still have salad left to eat, I'm going to add some! Hint for watercress growers, thin to ONE plant per pod. They start slow, but once they get going, it's a tangled craziness! I had one pod that had three plants, it now has one, and it was a bit tricky to get them separated. Lots to do, my eBay Harvest arrived and needs unpacking, and I still need to set up the two Woot gardens to test with a grow. How much of it I'll get done today, I don't know, but I'm starting to feel less sick, so we'll see.

I am cleaning 2 Bounty decks today. Why the heck didn't they make the design a little easier to take apart? It's beginning to make me wonder if I did the right thing getting some extra Bounty models!
Hopefully, it'll get easier with time. My back doesn't like these kinds of epic struggles. The worst is prying that pump tower off!
It's as well I took them apart though, they really did need a thorough cleaning up. They are soaking in a big tub of vinegar now.

I did 5 Bounty rinse n refills today. I am getting faster at the process as most of these are Cherry Toms and will be around for awhile. After the first 3 I have to paise 15 minutes for the reverse osmosis to fill its tank back up. I suppose I could dig out a 3 or 5 gallon container from the shed to avoid the pause and have extra ro water on hand. Making room for a 5/3 gallon container is another story. With all the Ag's going the only extra room I have is to go vertical. Not a great idea with a water jug. Picked off some dead foliage from various plants and did some extra pollinating after the fans did their thingy. I noticed more starts on the Cherokee Purple Slicer thinking that this will make the Toms smaller as the plant has so many to support and grow. Lastly trimmed back my herb garden everything in it grows very fast. Besides the chives all the herbs I'm growing are just because they were there.

I haven't had the pleasure of taking the deck apart on the newer style Bounty. After breaking a deck (old style Bounty) and reading what you wrote I am somewhat gun-shy and in no hurry to take the new deck apart. I am hoping on not repeating my past incident.

Some time back, and I believe in this very discussion, scarfguy posted about the iFixit Jimmy, and I ordered one. And ever since then, breaking apart grow decks has been like a rodeo event. Best time is well under a minute, and no more broken nails.

The main issue is getting the pump tower off.
The rest isn't easy, but it's an absolute breeze compared to the pump tower. I finally managed by inserting three blunt knives down into it to keep three tabs "mostly" disengaged, while using a spoon to pry at it, then pressing on the fourth tab. You need another set of hands, because once the knives are inserted, you need to use one hand to keep them "spread" and exerting pressure enough to keep the three tabs disengaged! Way easier said than done! I may ask hubby to help next time!
Sometimes you might not need to remove the pump tower, but because I'd just unplugged gardens and let them die, there were dried roots over everything that needed to be cleaned off. At any rate, it's easier for me to soak multiple decks if the pump tower is detached.
I'm glad it's done. I hope it gets easier with time and practice.

Best time is well under a minute, and no more broken nails. This looks excellent for separating decks. But I don't think it is narrow enough to do the pump tower. Why they had to put 4 tabs on that, I don't know, I think 3 would've held it and been immeasurably easier to disengage. That said, I'm probably rushing off to order this, LOL!

As for the pump tower, the first time I take it apart I take a big screwdriver and just break it off!
That effectively breaks off 1 of the 4 tabs. From then on, the remaining 3 tabs hold it in place quite satisfactorily and is easily removable from then on.
Brute force is frequently superior to finess.

Clovis,
I'm making some navy bean soup today...
The recipe calls for green onions.
I looked in the fridge and all I could find are scallions!
Guess that will have to do.

Be prepared to have the best damn bowl of navy bean soup you have ever tasted. As the good Saint Fiacre of Breuil, the patron saint of gardeners, always preached -- Postquam scaliones habes, nunquam regredieris (Once you go scallions, you will never go back).

I harvested Tatsoi and some watercress sprigs this morning for a green juice, and did the first prune of my Thai Basil, which was 3" tall and needed topping so it can start to bush out. I actually could detect the note of basil in the green juice from the rather small clipping!
Tonight, I grabbed a whole handful of Romaine leaves for a salad for myself, and gave hubby a few leaves he could use as a side-salad.
My two Rocket plants looked like they were hungry, so I squirted in a little additional nutrition to tide them over to their scheduled rinse and refill in a few days. They've greened up a bit since this morning, so I guess they needed it. The mystery salad greens pod in that garden is showing a red-tinged lettuce sprout, just barely over the pod cover.
My little watercress cutting had roots coming through the sponge after 2 days, it looks perky, so I'm letting that garden get a little oscillating fan action tonight. I didn't want to put the fan on it until that cutting was established enough to take it, but I think it is. It actually looks like it has grown a bit already!
Last thing I did was plant the second Woot.com cheap Bounty Basic with some Pink Mizuna from Baker Creek. Looking forward to growing that hydroponically! I once grew some outdoors for a fall garden and really enjoyed the greens.
