I'm noticing some slight wilting in my chard garden. I'm not sure if it's because of the furnace running more or just that the chard has basically run its course. It was such a pretty garden with all the multi-colored stems and big leaves, but we really aren't chard fans so it has been more of an ornamental.
I have found that having tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and fresh lettuce on hand is the best use of the AGs. I also keep perpetual bok choy and tatsoi since we love stirfry, and of course the green onions.
So far my little spinach plants are all thriving; I'm happy about that!
It's almost time to get seeds started for my outdoor garden. I had great success with that last year; I didn't buy a single seedling from the garden center because I started them all myself! I've been pouring over the seed catalogs and trying to decide the best use of my limited raised bed space. Just dreamin' on a dreary winter day.

Yes, it’s time. I’ve started my tomatoes, peppers and eggplant. It appears that we are not going to have another freeze so I’m going to start some cold weather spring crops outside in the next week or too.

I'm in Houston TX and probably won't be starting my outside garden until the end of February or first of March.

We've just had a week of near 0F temps, with sub-zero at night. And it's snowing again, though temps have risen to 20F. Our last frost date tends to be around the end of April. I can't even see ground right now, it's all under snow! But I'm NE Oregon. And in a valley. We need a good storm system to blow the cold air out. Hubby, a meteorologist, says there's warm air up above, but it isn't getting down to our level for a few more days yet.

The spinach is really trying to bolt. I'm going to have to restart soon. But I had a spinach, pac choi, tomato and bologna sandwich for lunch today. It was a lot better than I thought. I don't usually buy bologna, but 99 cents a pound instead of $4 and up for everything else changed my mind. I want to try the Sorrel seeds. I received the radish and broccoli seeds. I'll start sprouts as soon as I find a couple of empty quart Mason jars.

Rinse and refill day (2 days late) for my AG Heirloom Cherry Tomatoes! I've upped the nutrition, taking my best guess at it with my old GH Flora series nutrients and will hold my breath waiting to see if the plant remains happy, but it's not a seedling anymore.... It started blooming on day 43. Aerogarden says average is 45 days, so I guess this is more or less normal. Do I need to prune these? I remember I had to prune the AG Mega cherries, but this plant looks like it is staying on the shorter side all by itself. I did cut off some lower dried out leaves.

Rinse and refill day (2 days late)..... Yeah, sometimes on time and sometimes a bit late. That's part of why I have gone to 1 week nutrient changes (R&R). A day or two late is still not 2 weeks.

To be honest, I've never had the nerve to try head cheese. It always looked gross. I don't think I've even seen it in the store in quite a while.
I did finish the bologna. I won't be buying that again. The funny thing is, I like olive loaf. That is just bologna with olives.
It is -7°f out right now. It's hard to believe it's supposed to be 40°f the last week of January in West Michigan. My car really needs a bath.

pfunnyjoy, it might be a good idea to remove those lower leaves on the tomato that are kind of curled up and that aren't getting light. That will free up the plant's energy for developing fruit. I wouldn't try to "top" the plant, because it has plenty of room left to grow upwards. Rest assured, the tomato plant will quickly replace any leaves you remove from the canopy.

If I were younger and more mobile, I'd probably do a one week schedule. I've been having a pain flare-up, so moving slower than usual. I'm 3 days late on the Ground Cherries, but about to do them. They are tiny still, however.

Well, I did remove some lower leaves. I'll give it a day or two, maybe do some more. So far it seems happy enough with the nutrition boost. I've put a gentle breeze on it from the fan, though I won't do that all day.

Finally got the rinse and refill done for the Aunt Molly's ground cherries. They aren't very large yet, and not much for roots either. I bumped the nutrition up, but just a hair. Yes, I will eventually thin this garden to 2 seedlings but for now, keeping options open. It's kind of tempting to think about tossing two more seedlings at the regular Bounty. Though I would need to get more trellis. Day 17And my kale are going nicely on their new nutrients. The Dwarf Siberian runs to large leaves, I had to harvest another last night, as it was shading the rest of the plant that grew it. Day 23Speaking of trellises, how high can you stack them for a Bounty? Is there room to stack 3 trellises high?

Yes, you can stack three trellises on a Bounty.

Yes, you can stack three trellises on a Bounty. Thanks. Good to know, because I'm likely to need to if the ground cherries take off like folks say they do. If the darn thing is ever back in stock...

Eeeeeeek! I think I just had a learning experience. Yesterday I filled four Aerogarden watering jugs with tap water (pH 8.5ish). I added 1.4ml of pH Down, which usually brings me to a pH of around 6.0 to 6.5.
I didn't get around to testing the pH of the jugs until tonight ... and they are reading pH 4.0!
I guess air exposure can affect pH and leaving my watering jugs around with the spout open to air is NOT GOOD!
Glad I didn't take anything for granted and go watering. I will, in the future, be capping them off and attaching the spouts only when actively watering. A bit of a pain, but clearly necessary. You'd think that Aerogarden could provide a cap for the spout. I wish someone on Etsy would design one! I'd buy!

ALSO... pH drops as water temperature rises. Did the water temperature rise as the jug sat?

After correcting did it hurt your plants much?
