After correcting did it hurt your plants much? Well, the good news is I had not yet used the watering jugs when they were low pH. Once I corrected them, I capped them. I have used two, one upstairs, one down, to top off a couple gardens. No signs of harm to the plants. I used one today to do the rinse portion on my kitchen Harvest Slims. Those plants can hardly be harmed further, than I've already done! As I nutrient burnt them initially, and the cilantro, though growing, is always chock full of brown spots and dry leaves. And I still don't know why. The parsley, well, I removed all the non-thriving seedlings and that leaves two that made it through and that have grown a bit and are drinking. I'm thinking to plant some of the remaining spaces with arugula, in hopes it can sprout and catch up. I'm wondering if I can turn this to my advantage, i.e. taking my high pH water, leaving it exposed to air for 12 or 24 hours, THEN cap it. Might save me on pH Down.... It is an experiment I'll have to run, but no idea whether it will be a consistent thing or not.

My very first AG's. Two AG Mighty Mini tomato plants and a Genovese Basil (that's really, really trying to live) in my Harvest XL and the AG Heirloom Salad in my Bounty Basic. All are 17 days old. The first two leaves on both tomato plants turned grey early on and I thought they were going to bite the dust, but they have since put out nice looking leaves. Also my very first flickr account and uploads. Very easy: Thank you Shawn for the great video!!

Plant them and wait about 6 weeks before even checking on them. They take forever!

Day 52: Little green heirloom cherry tomatoes! The one hidden under the leaves on the left is from the first bloom to appear. I also did some harvesting! Removed the remaining Tatsoi plant from the upstairs garden, grabbed a handful of Italian Dandelion leaves from the garden next to it, then went downstairs and harvested kale from the Bounty. The Tatsoi/Dandelion greens are in the pasta bowl upper right; the mix of Dwarf Siberian and Russian Red kale is on the cutting board. And this is the juice! Which was spicy, as that was a largish hunk of ginger I put in! Other veggies were an English cucumber and green bell pepper, along with 2 Granny Smith apples, and 3/4 of a lime. But the Aerogarden greens were the main star of this juice. For those who like sweeter green juices, I'd think some pineapple would go really well in this.

Your two green juice photos belong in a healthy recipes cookbook, pfunnyjoy! The top one is beautifully composed!

Your two green juice photos belong in a healthy recipes cookbook, pfunnyjoy ! The top one is beautifully composed! More like carelessly tossed! I was in a hurry to get my green juice going and also thirsty! Tonight, having gotten the 6E+ ready to plant again, my Tatsoi seeds are MIA! It's driving me nuts, I've been looking all over for them and nothing.

Just a maintenance day today. I moved one poblano pepper plant from a Harvest Elite to my Farm XL. It was just getting too unwieldy and tall for the Harvest. Now it's drooping and mad at me, so we'll see if it perks back up. I didn't trim any roots or anything but it was a challenge to get them back into the Farm deck.

Plants can be fussy about being moved. I've been, boringly enough, sanitizing a pile 'o grow baskets and grow domes that I'd been letting go. All done now! Just mixed nutrients for a new garden in the cleaned out 6E+. Still can't find the Tatsoi seeds, so I'll be having at the next best thing, something brand new to me, Chijimisai (a cross between Tatsoi and Komatsuna)!

I have been away from my gardens for three weeks, and I got back just this morning, so there is plenty of garden work to keep me busy. (I did have some watchers, and they did a heck of a job. Everything lived.) First order of business -- Clean up the lettuce. I had two Harvest Slims with some AG romaine and AG Parris Island, plus assorted leftover greens. My watchers harvested lettuce the whole three weeks, and when I got back, I found the AG romaine was close to played out, but the AG Parris Island was going gangbusters. So I harvested everything except the Parris Island, which got me two big ziplocs of lettuce, then I consolidated the Parris Island into one Harvest Slim -- I cleaned out the other Harvest Slim and planted it with an AG Mystery Greens kit that I had picked up somewhere along the way. This is the the one where they are not labelled as anything other than as 'Salad Greens,' hence the 'Mystery Greens' designation. We'll see what we get. In other news, the cilantro finally kicked into gear, which calls for some chimichurri (Got some nice steaks in the freezer), and the chives are badly needing a haircut. Sounds like tossed salad and scrambled eggs for breakfast tomorrow. And I have a brand new Harvest Slim just waiting for me to open the box, plus two additional Sprouts that will take over chive and scallion production. (Most people call them green onions, but really, they're scallions.) And that's all the news from River City for today.

Update from River City -- I started the day off with . . . you guessed it . . . tossed salad and scrambled eggs using Parris Island cos and chives from the Aerogardens. Then I set up my new Harvest Slim with Merlot lettuce. That gives me three AGs producing salad -- one with merlot lettuce, one with Parris Island cos and one with AG mystery greens. (That image just made me realize I need some pictures on that wall.) Then I broke down and cleaned a Harvest and replanted it with New Zealand spinach, and I set up a new Sprout with scallions. The Sprout is more no-frills than I expected. Busy day.

No, no, no. You've got it all backwards. Here's the source (from 1953) -- Christmas Dragnet by Stan Freberg It's pretty much a standing dad joke at my house whenever someone says 'green onions'. (So now it can be a standing joke at all of your houses, too. If enough of us do it, we will become a movement.) Who here remembers real Dragnet and Stan Freberg's excellent Dragnet parodies? -- St. George and the Dragonet and Little Blue Riding Hood. And in other news -- I have peppers! I started to clean up my two Bounty units, which are populated with a jungle of tomatoes and peppers and one fairy-tale eggplant that is growing like crazy now, and I found peppers!! So I'm going to put on my bush jacket and wade into that jungle today. If I'm not back by tomorrow, send in Johnny Weissmuller. Or better yet, send in Maureen O'Sullivan.

No, No, my alteration was intentional. After reading your phrase, I googled it. I was not familiar with the Stan Freberg work.
BUT, BUT, here in Northeast Ohio, they've always been called green onions. Scallions is seldom used.

BUT, BUT, here in Northeast Ohio, they've always been called green onions. Scallions is seldom used. I am in the midwest, too, and the only reason I knew what scallions were was because my parents had a little 45 record player and some Freberg records, which I wore the grooves off of. (They had some Phil Harris, too, bless their hearts.) And I didn't even know what an avocado was until I was 30 because they hadn't made it to Kansas yet. I was working running the kitchen in a restaurant, and one customer wanted guacamole for his daughter's wedding reception. I had to go to the library to find a quac recipe, and then I had to special order the avos from my supplier. Those peppers are just the jalapenos from the AG AeroGarden Salsa Garden Seed Pod Kit . I have too many of them in a Bounty. I went away for 3 weeks planning to cull one when I got back, but they all have flowers now. I think I need to trim up the bottoms so they will focus more on making peppers.

I think one of the reasons why I learned them as green onions is that I confused scallions with shallots.
Two S words is one too many.
